Which hot hatch has the best tuning potential?

ST does 300bhp~ pretty easily, I think the Astra VXR does as well.
I'd imagine the S3 is probably one of the best/easiest to mod and will handle everything better cause it's not FWD.
You basically want to be looking for a car with FI and a bit modding scene, Civic Type R you'll get nowhere for example due to being N/A and the Mazda3 MPS which has a 2.3T engine has (iirc) no modding scene so is left largly untapped.

Erm... focus St, Astra vxr (not corsa as they have a 4th cylinder fueling issues), Golf GTI, seat cupras etc... Basicaly anything turbo'd can have the power boosted fairly easily.

basically any turbocharged car is good for epic gains
its all relative as most will see a minimum 25% increase in power output with simple work like a remap at a few hundred pounds or you could go to the extent of uprating cams intercoolers turbos etc what do you class as a simple modification
personally i dont see anything out the ordinary with changing a turbo or fitting a larger intercooler others might think that a tad extreme
its a really open question as it depends a lot on each individuals personal abilities and their own view on what is simple
personally i wouldnt think twice about fiting a hybrid turbo and a set of cams, others might limit themselves to getting their car remapped.

The meganes are pretty similar to the golf gti tbh.
With hybrid and remap they hit 280 bhp

Sorry I should have been a bit more specific about the golf, I ment the ed30
As the op said he didn't want to mess with turbos so I guess hybrids are out of the question. I would like to know why the meganes are not as tuneable though, my friend has one and wanted to boost his power but there seems to be no real tuners for them, I belive the have a fairly decent size turbo anyway so not to sure why they are not an easy car to boost power on??

OP for example I took my car from 236bhp stock to 292bhp with a £450 second hand turbo back exhaust and 100 cell cat plus a £250 remap.

You've been genuinelly interested in all sorts for years both before and after you signed up for a new account yet never buy a car.
It interests me because of who it is and what he's posting yet again. I'm also amazed he wasn't banned for having two accounts, everyone else would be. He's done this for years.
Plus I even contributed and suggested something with a turbo.

The problem with all these cars is most are FWD. 300bhp Astra? Great it can hardly handle the 240bhp~ it comes with when making progress round corners.
Only thing I'd wanna put silly power through I'd want to be RWD or that stuff Audi use.
135i or S3 then please, which I'd imagine are well out of the OP's 'Spend £5k then another £300 on a wikkid hot hatch' budget.
