I've just clocked up 15K in the Mondeo. The fronts are nearing the legal limit, the backs are like new.

Anyone know the average life of a set of front tyres on a 2009 Mondeo? It's got the 'Sport Pack' 18" wheels.

Recommendation for replacement too please.

I have a 52 plate tdci mondeo, and get around 12k miles out of the tyres, and i am currently running same tyres but only 16"

My Dad has a 57 plate mondeo estate econetic and he's getting his front tyres changed soon after 25k miles :)

They are michelins, but I'm not sure what type

If they're the OEM ones then they are probably Michelin Primacy HP, an "energy saving" tyre.

I have a set on my 59 plate Mondeo Econetic and they lasted about 15,000 miles. Their grip isn't the best either, if it wern't a company car I would have definitely gone for something else. Something that wont't break traction when accelerating from a standard start due to the immense torques of the detuned 115bhp diesel lump.

Yh they are OEM, do you know if they affect ride quality as well as grip? His car has always had a very hard ride

I haven't tried any other tyre on that car, nor have I tried that tyre on any other car, so cannot do a fair comparison.

That said, you have the Econetic which has the lowered "sports" suspension from the Zetec, so chances are you will be getting a harder ride than a base model Mondeo anyway.

To me "low rolling resistance" implies "bugger all grip when you need it" so when choosing my own tyres I've avoided the various "eco" tyres out there. What I really hate is that the car has almost zero engine braking, though I'm not sure whether this is down to the "eco" engine or the "eco" tyres.

Yh, and the fact it's an estate probably doesn't help either (they have harder suspension at the rear right?)

But yh, I'll find out the answer to that question very soon :)

As others have said, that sounds about right from a set of SportContact 2's.

Regarding replacement, what do you want from the tyres?

If money isn't an issue I would suggest the Sport Contact 3 or the Pilot Sport 3, no point messing around with anything less if you're not paying :)
