Tcmagazine.com managed to score early listing of AMD's upcoming Cayman cards and the Franch retailer/e-tailer lists these two cards at €398.22 and €496.02.

The Cayman based HD 6970 and the HD 6950 are scheduled to launch next week and it was just a matter of time before some retailer/e-tailer jumps the gun and lists these two for pre-order. The price seems a bit steep, but we are quite sure that we'll see even lower prices once the rest of the retail/e-tail crowd joins in on the fun.

The estimated availability date is also interesting as the noted retailer/e-tailer claims that the HD 6950 should be available on December 11th while the HD 6970 is scheduled for December 23rd.

You can find the screenshots of the listings here while the cards can be found listed here and here

Based on the figures initially - the 6950 comes in at £333 - which is higher than the 570.

Now if it out-performs the 570 then fine.

But at that price, for some, is too much. People like me who will spend £200-£250 maximum on a gfx card. It is too much. So you then have the option of the 6870, 470 or the 5870 at £190 !!

For me, this is an easy decision - 5870 all the way....

Can someone explain would you would get a 6870 over a 5870 - is it because it will scale better in xfire and lower power consumption? Or am I missing something? I thought for performance only the 5870 is noticeably ahead of the 6870....

There have been some rumours (from people working in retail) about the cost of some higher-end 6970s being £299+VAT – which is £350 and that is for a higher end model which is supposed to beat the 580. Therefore I would be surprised if those 6950 were more than £275.

And the best thing is that Gibbo had already informed us about the pricing a good few days ago and yet people still make a mystery out of it :D

I went with the 6870 instead of the 5870 because its newer tech which is more efficient, supports 3D, better tessellation and easier to sell on in future especially with better crossfire scaling its ideal for someone looking for another 2nd hand.

I would go with ATI for doing a better job at overcoming Nvidia's attempts to slow them down in TWIMTBP games to end up with equal performance. ;)

I'm not so sure, given 2 equal priced, equal performing, equal thermals cards which one would you guys go for?

Personally I would go with Nvidia
i'd go for nVidia for CUDA and PhysX. i also feel nvidia gives me smoother gaming experience, especially with one of my fav title: GTA4.
