hi guys,

had my ultima vanquish for about a week now,

however ive just noticed a high pitched noise every time for example a webpage is rendering or if i scroll the mouse wheel to go up and down webpages...

the noise is similar to that of an old dot matrix printer head as it chugs across the screen! Its even more noticable when I turn my external speakers on..

I opened the side of the antec 1200 case and could hear it is coming from the corsair psu (650w)... its even doing it now as im typing.

I guess this isnt normal ??

any help or pointers would be appreciated. Thanks :(

sorry to resurrect an old thread but this keeps happening now and im worried that my power supply may be damaging my components...

When the OCUK profile does not load by default...the horrible noise from the PSU returns ....

If i close down...load the OCUK profile...the noise goes away.....and the machine works fine..

However more recently I have started to notice the display going crazy from time to time.... random pixels appearing all over the screen suddenly followed by a load of blue lines down the screen rendering the machine unusable so have to do a hard reboot.

I bought the machine back in april this year , I probably should have returned it straight back as soon as I noticed the noise however I thought as long as i loaded the ocuk profile all would be well..... it seems however that I definitely have a dodgy power supply......and i am worried this is now having a knock on effect on my other components (graphics card etc)...

Are return / repair / warranty options still available to me ?

Many thanks in advance guys ...

Although the collect and return warranty will have expired, you may still be able to return it under the Sale of Goods act. However chances are you'll have to pay for the return shipping costs.

Do you mean April this year as you mentioned in your OP dated 19 April 2010 that you'd only had it a week at the time and therefore will be covered by the 12 month collect and return warranty.

Just pulled up the 'Ultima Viper' page and it says..

Ultima Viper Page said:
Service Package
- Full 12 Month collect and return warranty

Now I don't know what your Vanquish had in the Service Package but if it's the same then ocuk should cover all charges.

Judging by your more recent concerns regarding the PSU noise on normal clocks and the graphical glitches I would be inclined to look into having it at least looked at. The graphics glitches could be a failing card or a consequence of a bad power supply but could also be driver issues. The PSU however should not be making any sort of noise, capacitor squeal is not acceptable.

Ok thanks mate, will get it checked out.

So just ring OC and arrange for a collect and return of my box? That simple ?
