currently getting 20mpg out of my 2.0 focus and putting about £50 a month in in fuel
That is pretty low, do you floor it everywhere?
29-31mpg around town is achievable.

Scrap my previous coments about my focus mpg, been doing the calculations with us galons. Actualy getting 28.1 mpg average about town.
Still fuel cost is not really an issue.

He's putting it through it's mot in a couple of weeks. If it's fine and nothing to do as he thinks he'll sell it to me, if he has to spend more than £1k on it he's keeping it for another year.

from a mk1? the book combined figure is 32, and i think i met that once.
my standard commute = 26mpg. for reference, my 3.0 BMW does about 24...
