Just been offered a 1996 750iL V12 for £1000

Now there's a sensible man. :D

I am deadly serious, £1000 is a bargain for such a car, I'd buy it now and be even happy to pay slightly more.

Because for £1000 I would keep it aside, use it often and well pamper and keep it well maintained until the day comes where something breaks that would cost epic amounts, at this point start selling it bit by bit.

So my offer stands, I'd happily buy it no hesitation and will beat any rival BID within reason. ;)

Basically buy it from your boss for £1000, then I will buy it from you for £1200, quick £200 profit for you. ;)

Spoke to my boss today. It's had 3 owners JSP, some bloke for 6 weeks? And my bos for the past 6 years.

Regular specialist? Servicing but not BMW and anything wrong has been put right straight away.

He's putting it through it's mot in a couple of weeks. If it's fine and nothing to do as he thinks he'll sell it to me, if he has to spend more than £1k on it he's keeping it for another year.

Sounds fair enough to me.

Scrap my previous coments about my focus mpg, been doing the calculations with us galons. Actualy getting 28.1 mpg average about town.

Still fuel cost is not really an issue.

Just buy the car mate the time for talking is done you aint going to get another one looked after like that for a grand.

So if he's selling.... are you buying? :p

And if so, are you buying to keep or to flog on to Gibbo for £200?

The E32 had M70B50 5.0l V12, the E38 had M73B54 5.4l V12 the both the same engine. Both shared same SOHC heads, and engine blocks which derived from 2xM20B25 engines welded together sharing the same crank in V formation. Most parts from either of these engines are directly interchangeable inc ancillaries and engine looms near enough identical too in fact both ECU’s are too (each ecu controlling each bank is the same with very minor software revisions)

Both E32 and E38 shared the same chassis and suspension components, they share same sub-frame design with most suspension components interchangeable between along with drive-train and fuel system. Even the base interior and chassis looms laid out in identical ways and lengths with modular plugs for whatever extra accessory a particular model had.

With so many similarities and interchangeable components I and many others consider it as a facelift rather than whole new car like E65 is. Then again E65 E66 E67 E68 are all facelifts too despite the fact far less is interchangeable between them.

The ZFHP24 is a very desirable and sought after gearbox within BMW, Audi, Jaguar circles, cost of rebuilding these gearboxes properly costs way more than in parts alone.

this is ongoing.... need to find out when he is MOT ing it and i'm not in work much over Xmas.

i will come back to the thread when i know more but so far....
