If you wanted a fast (hot hatch) car and had 25,000 to spend, what would you buy?

Here are some ideas

Used 2009 Mitsubishi Evo 10 FQ330 - 25,000

Used 2010 Ford Focus RS - 22,000

The EVO is on another level in terms of running costs.

The Focus RS by all accounts is very good value for what it is and the handling and power delivery is excellent for any car, let alone FWD.

Test drive both.

I see what you mean about the EVO, I guess even a second hand one is going to be expensive to fuel, service and insure.

That's interesting. Do you rekon running a BMW costs more than running a EVO?

A non ///M BMW will not cost more to run than an EVO. I'd imagine that the 335i would cost slightly less to fuel, less to service, but tyre costs will still be high.

If I had £25,000 to spend I'd want something a little better than a hot hatchback. So much decent metal available for the money that would be just as quick, yet doesn't have to make me look like a chav's wet dream.

Thats not a car thats an advert for tuning services - there are 4 different 335i's in that picture.

But a 335i is probably where my money would go as well.

I know 25,000 is a lot to spend on a Focus

It's a lot to spend on any car thats basically a 15k car when new with some upgrades.

I'm not a massive fan of them anyway, but I can see the appeal at 10k, not double that though.
