Helo,
i'm working as a chef in one place, and manager she took 14 quid from my wages cause i made one mistake the other day. Does she have that right or she's braking the law?
thanks,
Linas.

As above, all depends on your contract of employment. If there is no mention of deducting mistakes from your payslip, then it's an unauthorised deduction

Linas, get down to the Citizen's Advice bureau if you can. I have acted for former students from overseas who have had similar (illegal) treatment from employers. A snap decision to dock your wages is likely to lead to another. Get advice and keep quiet until you are certain of your position. Has this happened to anyone else?

Sounds quite harsh to me.
I have to agree with the others here so I would check your contract first to see what it has to say about this. To be honest, it does not sound right to me, especially if you are on a low wage.

sry i was bit busy so couldn't post earlier, i'm earning more than minimum vage, and it's not that big money. it's just my principals were hurt, i'll read my contract but i don't remember anything saying about that. and no it didn't appeared on my payslip.
the mistake was that i cooked stake medium instead of well done, so all i did was to cook it for a bit more.
if i won't find anything about deductions in my contract i will try to get my money back.
