Lucky that this car isn't a hatchback, then, eh?I'd have thought the name, 1 Series M Coupe, would be a bit of a giveaway.

True. BMW wont make a hatchback version.

I often laugh when car critics say the 1M is set to take on the RS3..... Surely the 1M has it's eyes set on the TTRS?!

Do like. Do like a 2nd hand M3 at 40k though. (Saloon for me please).

Slightly O/T, Fox et all, genuinely interested as to when Current M3 (Saloon) prices will drop to the 20k mark for a well cared for example, in say 2 years time. Looking relatively realistic as a car I could aim for in 2 years at that price...

Edit - Jeez thats written quite badly, what do we reckon 2nd hand M3 (current) prices will be in 2 years time?

As many of you think 1 series is pointless, i think of it as what M3 should have been its just as fast, just as comfortable, and most important more focused and cheaper.

Not quite sure why so many people are down on the 1 series, I can understand why people don't like the look of them in the same way I don't like the look of say the focus rs (it looks like a toy). The 120d sport I have, I love it - sure it may not be the best car in the world but it fits my needs, but perhaps most importantly why I bought it as I love the design. People can carry on hating them, but I'm certainly no chav or whatever the other comment was.

I'd have it over a Focus RS(500) or Golf/Scirocco R
Not sure i'd have it over a 2 year old M3, or 6-12month old cayman S.

Could it be considered a cayman S rival? The 1 is maybe a bit more subtle, but the 1M dosn't look to be an especially subtle car anyway.

A 1 year old 1M would be fairly interesting, £33-35k? Then other than maybe a standard slower cayman i can't see much else interesting at that price point that will still have a few years warranty on it.

Loving it!

Autocar says it'll cost around £38k..... Pretty sure a spec'd up 135i goes for the same price.

It looks crap (aftermarket) from behind.

No M car should look crap from behind.
