replacing hd7 with... what phone?

So I've had my hd7 for about 6 weeks now, and while there are a couple of things I like, over all I'm not that happy with it and thinking of changing it for something a bit less... Windows phone 7 =P

The others I had an eye on when I got this were the hd2, the desire HD, and the Dell streak, hardware wise, I believe the hd2 is closest to the hd7? And i do like the look/style of the phone. I did also have a play with the streak in a shop, so I realise how big it is, but I liked it when I was playing with it.

Was just wondering if anyone could let me know how these compare to the hd7 or if there are any other handsets which you could recommend? Ideally something android.

Many thanks!

Edit: should have added the main reasons I don't like the hd7:

Inability to add own ring/message tones (just seems a bit... 1998 to me)
No WiFi tethering (or in fact any way of using the phone as a modem)
Can't call a contact from messaging, every other phone I've had you can be in a message from someone and just hit the call button and it dials them.

forget the hd2 unless you have specific requirements that mean you must have windows mobile 6.5

So the hd2 is out then, you reckon the desire HD is the way to go? Ignoring its size, as this doesn't bother me (I quite like the massive screen actually) how does the streak match up?

Its a nice handset, feels good quality and the os is quite slick and fast... It just seems to be missing some basic functionality. Might get patched in given time, but at the mo is annoying me =P

I haven't played with a streak but for me the DHD is the perfect size but also the upper limit for a phone. Personally I might get a tablet at some point but think the streak and to some degree the samsung tab are in no mans land where they are too big to be practical as a phone and not big enough to fit the bill as a tablet.

Ring tones - Due in Early 2011 (rumoured to be Feb latest)

Tethering - Can be enabled on most phones, the HD7 should be sorted soon.

Messaging - You can, you press on the name, then press the number of theirs (if they have multiple) that you want to call. (2 screenpresses)

So, perhaps you should stick with WP7 :)

First update in January will add the majority of the features you're missing...

Subsequent update in February should make it even better for you...

I suggest giving it some time, a couple of months is nothing at all and you will probably have the phone operating the way you expect :)

Can't believe I never figured that one out :p

Do you know of a way to save a homepage rather than opening a blank tab each time too?

Well, you've convinced me to stick with it for a couple of months and see what the updates bring (serves me right for going with a brand new OS i suppose =P)

Cheers guys =)

Glad to have helped :)

Good man, sticking it out is sensible!

The DHD is the same size as the HD2 with the same good solid feel and great screen and size, droid is the current way to go

Probably by setting the internet tile on the home screen as your homepage bookmark page instead of the default IE tile.:)
