Hi all,

I have not dealt with Dell screens that much, so looking for some help with U2711 power on.

More often than not, when pressing power on button on the screen, it would light up blue indicator and... that's it. It would not switch the screen on, sensor control buttons are unresponsive and the screen is not switching on. The only way forward from there is to unplug the screen's powerplug.

It used to work flawlessly, but lately hes developed this. I know I can just get a doorstep replacement, but chances are I will get a refub, so I'd rather fix this issue if it is possible.

Anyone ever came across anything like that?

sry for not being able to help you but when you got your monitor, did it come with a dual dvi cable as i will be needing one when i get mine in a few weeks. Just not sure if i need to go out and buy one of these aswell.

My U2410 can do that but im not sure if its because my PC is already on and going before the screen is. Tbh i just leave mine on all the time as standby really does not bother me. Im not sure if its just the way its designed or a fault somehow?

Its the same with my U2311. I thought something was wrong with it, but I think it just takes a long time to warm up. If I turn on the screen, its a minute perhaps before I see anything on the screen then the menu has a major delay which makes it impossible to use. Its not fully on until about 30mins or I watch a movie or something that mobilises all the pixels that I'm able to use the menu.

I just leave it on all the time now and let it go into standby, it uses less than a watt, even if its off it uses power so.

Just give them a call, and ask for a brand new replacement, argue with the dell rep that you don't want a refurbished unit as you paid for a new one.

I am getting a new one myself (takes a bit longer than a refurbish unit though) as mine gets a corrupted image on the left side sometimes... and sometimes only!

I also have a stuck pixel (had it from the very start), but didn't want to RMA it just for that. So I guess there are now a bunch of reasons to do it.

Also, mine is revision 00, so it would be good to have it replaced with something newer as well.

I found a solution. Just turn of everything. The pc and then the monitor. Disconnect all the leads to the monitor. Then press and hold the power button for about five seconds. Then connect all back up, turn on pc then monitor. Then go into menu and select the dvi connection or vga whatever you are using. Not that it matters now.

And what does this do?
