I have £500 to spare and I wanted to make some changes to my rig..

My Rig
i7 920 @ 4ghz
6GB DDR3 Ram
Intel 80gb SSD (windows and adobe)
500GB (games and other programs)
2x1tb (for storage)
ATI 5850
Coolermaster 1000psu

Now I was thinking about an
ASUS 570 with a Corsair Graphite 600T

Or keep 5850 for now and go with
Corsair Graphite 600T |

Corsair Professional Series™ Gold AX850 (lost my cables to my psu and will sli down the road once I get a 570) |

Logitech Z623 2.1 Channel Multimedia Speakers - 200W RMS |

What do you guys think?

I want to go on the nvidia side this time, as cuda would be nice.

But selling ant an option as all old bits will be used to build a server / media pc (when new intel cpus are out i will grab one with a new mobo and ram)

But would you upgrade the pc so it all looks good then get the 570 or 570 then the case and psu as this case has seen better days.

Get the case first.

And how you lost your psu cables? did you not put then somewhere safe?

Really annoys me when people do things like this, especially in the Members Market where you can usually find someone selling a graphics card with a waterblock, but cant find the reference cooler anymore to supply with the card!!!!! ARRRGHHHHHHHHHHHHH RAGE!!!!!

There is a person called a mum who moves things and my big box full of stuff is gone and the stuff in it is moved all over the place so I gave up, the psu will be used in the server anyway as the cables it needs is plugged in.

I think im going to get a 570 and the case then buy a psu after xmas.

Because I did have another 5850 and I had problems in games, so I sold it... I also kinda want to go to the green side as I will get a 120mhz monitor and do the 3d and the cuda would be helpful as I use after effects and convert a lot and to my understanding nvidia cuda can speed that up?

I think it is slightly over priced but I'm happy to pay it as I think it's the only worth while upgrade from the 5850 (as 470 - 480 had heat problems)... I think the new cpus are out in January - Feb with the motherboards, So i will then save for them with xmas money and a few jobs I'm waiting payment for.

My goal is to build a sli monster that I'm happy with as after this upgrade I wont be upgrading again for a while (other then the odd bits)

The GTX480 et al didn't have 'heat problems' - they were designed to run at high temps. (Obviously Nvidia would have preferred lower temps/noise). How hot does your i7 get under 100% load with HT on? See many getting to ~90C but people don't mind. A GPU on the other hand - woah!

Anyway, I'd grab a GTX480 on one of the cheap deals coming up (like the one the other day for £235) or if a 570 goes cheaper (~£250) then one of those as they are quieter.

I wouldn't recommend going with the Corsair Graphite 600T for the case...it's cooling effectiveness is pretty poor for a £130 case:

As for the upgrade, get a pair of GTX570 (or 6950, if they indeed comparable to GTX570 in speed), sell your 5850 and get a different case.

Edited: I noticed you lost the cable to the AX850 PSU...that's a real bummer. It seems really silly to have to get a new PSU because of missing cables...don't you think you can contact Corsair and get the cables for the AX850W off them instead of having to buy new PSU?

My cpu at max is 70 - 80 i think it was, and I worded it wrong sorry but I didn't get a 480 as I was worried about the noise and heat in the case I have at the moment.
