Ok another build another question - similar to a previously asked question.

AMD Phenom II x4 955 @ 3.2 GHZ

2x2gb XMS3 ddr3 1600 mhz RAM

Palit geforce 460 GTX 1gb

Samsung spinpoint f3 500gb

Standard samsung DVD/RW

Coolermaster hyper tx3

Asus M4A78LT-M 760G

Case not decided.

I am unsure what psu to buy for this build. I have heard a 500W will be suitable, but i want to have room for upgrades. I was told to get a windowed coolermaster 430 with a 500W elite power psu when i asked about a build very similar to this one, so i was wondering if that would have enough room for upgrades in this build (e.g upgrading graphics card later on may use up a higher wattage). I would like the Psu to be as cheap as possible really, but i do know about the kind of prices of psu's so i wont complain. Thanks!

If you can spend abit more, try getting modular PSU. It's really flexbible on the cables management IMO when fitting in bigger cases.

Ok ill get corsair, but will 500W be enough for that build, even if i was to upgrade later on? I cant help but think i might need a 550 or something

I would recomend the corsair HX650, it is nicely priced for a modular psu and you know you will get good quaitly with corsair and it would give you bit of headroom in the furture.

That 500w Corsair is more than enough, even with a GTX 580.

Are you planning to overclock the CPU by the way? Not sure if that cooler is up to it...

OCZ stealth xtreme2 500w is another option. Its more efficient and slightly less. Its an FSP unit.

OCZ ModXStream Pro 500w Silent SLI Certified Modular Power Supply looks good and seems to have decent reviews for a few quid more. its made by sirtec. Slightly more efficient than the cx too.

Not convinced by the new CX series tbh. Perhaps the warranty may be the decider.

No im not going to overclock, i chose that cooler simply becuase ive heard the stock cooler is loud.

the stealth xtreme 2 has only 1 6 pin PCI e connector when my graphics card would require 2. If i got the modular one do i have to buy the cables myself? and will i be able to get 2 6 pin pci e connectors

The modular PSU should come with all the cables. There is a nice roundup of reviews here and the package should be investigated in the reviews so you can check up.

Sirtec are not bad iirc and have made some good PSUs. FSP are meant to be good too although some people have complained about dodgy PSUs from them. CWT are a very good brand but I don't think the CX series are their best PSUs. In the grand scheme of things the enermax and seasonic PSUs are traditionally the best however CWT seems to be moving in and vendors are using their PSUs to flesh out their flagship models. Of course their are other top vendors as well but those two come to mind.

I would probably tend to lean to the Corsair unit, having owned several in the past and still use one.
