(the 2 images are showing the small fluctuation in clock speed)

My mate brought a pre-built with a OC from a competitor . It has worked quite well until recently when this screen appears at POST and the CPU is reset back to its default clock.

***No competitor hinting!!!***

Might be a glitch of some sort. Any profiles to reload? Is it ibt or prime tested for stability? Also, clock speed fluctuations are quite normal.

Looks like the 'competitor' overdid the 'clock. You shouldn't need 1.31v to reach 3.8GHz!

Is your mate's RAM stable? What's his QPI/vtt volts set at?

And ocuks systems are problem free? ;) I've had quite a few D0s needing over 1.3v to hit 3.8 though the norm is 1.25-1.3v i found. Also overvolting would not likely be an issue at boot to be honest.

Overvolting is certainly not causing the issue you are having.

Did your mate update the BIOS recently? And then had to enable the profile again after the BIOS flash?

too much vcore and a poor bios for that board

not to mention the memory frequency at probably havent even set the memory up

cowboys

call them up and tell them rjk says they cant overclock

Hahaha! Sadly, before going to the competitor he got a PC from OcUK which arrived with a broken heatsink and vowed never to shop at OcUK again (it probably DPD anyway - better than Citylink though). Shame really, as you can't beat £170 5870s and £125 5850s. ;)

What BIOS rev do you recommend for the UD3 then, and if it updated, will it keep the profiles?

don't hold your breath for help on an OCUK overclock issue, I've been waiting for help for the last several months ... I assume that once the money is handed over customers are forgotten !! Unless somebody from OCUK wishes to contact me now ???
