Hey all,

Going to Morocco for a couple of weeks to do some volunteering and need to go to either Casablanca, Rabat airport or Ouarzazate. I will probably have a couple of days either side of the volunteering in wherever I go, and the flight prices are roughly the same.

So which area is better?

Ouarzazate, pretty cool place to visit for a few hours, however its in the middle of nowhere (I guess you could visit the desert, which is bloody amazing). Casablanca, I hear its a dump, however its on the coast and is a relatively big city perhaps thats your best bet.

Well I don't know anything about Rabat, but Ouarzazate was a nice place to stop off at, but I'm not sure what you could do there for more that a day (probably treks of some kind or something like that). Casablanca might have more to do, even if it probably will smell like faeces. I'd check carefully to see if there's any difference in the kind of volunteering you'd do in these places and base my decision on that. However, Ouarzazate was quite nice (I loved the barren landscape throughout Morocco, but I suppose Ouarzazate was just the place that we stopped off at inbetween long coach journeys through the barren landscape).

No, I have never been Morocco. I would imagine it is impossible for anyone to be a whole country.

Never went as far inland as Ouarzazate, but I'd take random place I've never been to over Casablanca any day of the week. If it's only a couple of days, you'll find things to fill them wherever you go - Rabat was alright, no great memories, but...yeah, just not Casablanca :p

Hey i've been many times, Rabat is quiet city nice to vist for a day or 2, Casablanca is busy has great night lift and some nice Architecture to look at, never been to Ouarazate have you tired looking at flights to Marrakesh very cheap flights with easy jet? Very nice city to visit a lot of culture, great Architecture and great night life (Biggest night club in Africa), also nice central location to sahara desert, atlas mountains, Some great golf courses. What volunteering are you doing if you don't mind me asking sounds interesting.

thanks for all the replies, its through an organisation called ivsgb, there various projects you can do, but the one Im doing is about more about meddling in with the community and finding out about the culture. All you need to pay is about £150 to the organisation for each project, and book your own flights.
