Z4M update - Eisenmann exhaust

Nice car Booner! Not sure if you remember, as it was about 3 months ago, but I saw you go past me and my girlfriend on the A34 just after the M40. We were in her Grey Z4 3.0i and you gave us a thumbs up!

Your car sounded very nice even befroe the upgrade!

Regardless, I still don't know how they can justify charging £1400 for stainless steel backboxes, I'd still think it expensive if it were half that price.

You can apply it to many things though, for example watches... I would spend £50 on a watch and compare it to an Omega seamaster 3000 cybertron limited thingymebob ....to me the Omega would be expensive at £500, let alone £1500.

I was hardly going to skimp on the exhaust and fit a wideboy corsa exhaust on there...all or nothing imo!

With respect, what you do with your money is your business. But prestige watches are not the analogy I'd want to be likening this to.

Similarly, I have a £200 watch and I consider that expensive, but thats for another day.

Don't get me wrong, I always strive for the best quality parts for my car BUT there is ALWAYS a compromise. I want function for my cash and reasonably so.

I just can't understand where anyone could justify spending £1400 on a a back box, even if it liberated considerably more HP, and sounded absolutely perfect.

As for a "wideboy Corsa exhaust", there's a gulf like expanse between one of those and one of these. I'm sure there are exhausts that do 99% of what this does for less than half the price.

Sorry, but I think it's just bonkers!

*sigh*

Give up.
Sorry but I'll never accept that a pair of SS back boxes can be worth £1400 whatever you show us :p

As has been said above I could get an entire system from the engine backwards for probably less than that..

Disclaimer - I realise the OP didn't pay full price for them ;)

Can you suggest any more suitably priced alternatives ?

There doesnt appear to be many for M cars so i dont think you have much choice !

There are very few alternatives on the M, unless you go custom. There aren't a huge amount of Z4M's out there in comparison to Evo's etc and only a minority want aftermarket exhausts. If you want (not need) a tasty exhaust, you have to pay. It's simple.

I'm rubbish at analogies, so I'll stay away from them and just enjoy the exhaust!

I appreciate your opinion, I would be the same about lots of other stuff like jeans over £100, we are all different.

My justification is that I used some of my xmas bonus for this at circa £600 thanks to the offset of selling my exhaust. To me, spending £600 on something that will bring a smile to my face pretty much every day (I drive lots) and also stay with me for a while, isn't really a huge issue. I can sell it again if I ever need the money and for the happyness it brings, I would have only spent it on a big TV which will be outdated by 3D or some other "next gen" tech. We are on a forum where people spend the same on graphics cards which are worth penuts a few months later, I still didn't expect to come across that opinion within motors!

What I would have said if I wasn't falling asleep at my PC :p

I think my exhaust was ~400 quid for a 3" turbo back. Granted it's probably not the worlds finest exhaust but it does the job and sounds great (well as much as possible with an SR ;))

I really wanted an Eisenmann on the 530i, but the £600 cost put me off :(
It's never too late ;)

It would look fantastic, but I can't imagine you'd use it properly. Do you ever even take it above 3,000? ;)

**** the bed, I did look on the site and thought it was that for a full system.

I know its different design briefs and whatnot, but thats a ridiculous amount for an exhaust that isnt even titanium.

To put it in perspective I can get a turbo elbow back Titanium system for that OR:

Tubular manfold
Magnex 3" Modular Turbo Elbow and Downpipe
Blitz Nur Spec R cat back

Basically engine back 3" all the way, for the same price as some backboxes? Crazy.

I got my Milltek 3" Turbo back system for £850 fitted. :D

To be fair I might be tempted at 600 if there were no cheaper alternatives - hell I just spent 600 quid on a clutch kit for the 200 (although this was out of necessity rather than desire but it shows I am willing to spend silly money on car parts). It's the thought of spending 1400 on 2 back boxes I just can't handle, I would just stick with OEM.

I don't think anyone is denying they sound good, just questioning the cost...
Sod the cost. Ladies' knickers fall just at the sight of the thing, let alone the sound

And yes, this is me justifying spending such a large amount of cash on some shiny metal

No and I haven't even looked. My main point is that the cost is ridiculous for a stainless steel exhaust.

I'm sure if you tied £800-£1000 to your willy and waved it at Hayward and Scott that they'd be able to knock you up a manifold back system.

Again it's nice to have a reasonable discussion about it without it getting all personal. I'm not judging your position, circumstances or what not. Simply just the price they sell it for.

I sincerely hope you enjoy it - I should bloody hope so at that cost!

I wouldn't let it out of my sight if I were you :p My sisters' ex bf got his exhaust stolen from outside her place and as a result I won't park there. It would cost me at least a grand to replace my exhaust if it were nicked.

I don't think anyone is denying they sound good, just questioning the cost...

I agree.

How would you even know who owns that car MrLOL?! I'd understand if you had a Z4 and kicked around the owners club or something but... you seem to know everyone

I knew the car but I had no idea what his name was. I'm just naming you next time somebody accuses me of being a googleboy :p
