i remember reading something about graphics ram reserving system ram, how does that work?

what effect does it have on preformance?

is 2gb gddr too much for a systems with 64bit os and 4gb ram?

thanks :)

No, it was only a problem for 32 bit OS's in that they were limited how much memory they could address, 64 are too but were no where near the limits so no need to worry

Initially, old computers would reserve so much of your system memory for graphics.
Nowadays, computers have graphics cards with dedicated GPU memory onboard the card, so theres no need for the system memory (RAM) to reserve any space.

Like previously said however, 32BIT (X84) Operating systems could only support up to a maximum of 3.2GB RAM.

While 64BIT (X64) Operating systems can have upto 128GB RAM I believe, as I read before, could be something different, but you'll never in a million years reach it.

Ofcourse the more system memory you have, the higher your system performance, and the more graphics memory you have, the higher your graphics performance.

Just give it some time and we'll be using 128GB in our PCs.

had that feeling too when i read that, but then i thought, soon we will reach a plateau? also been stuck around 4gb for a long time now ive had it for about 5 years.
