AMD Catalyst 10.12 drivers released - the BIG one!

I should have said, 10.10 vanilla worked great on my 6870, 10.10e and hotfix dropped fps, now 10.12 is slightly, albeit very slightly faster than 10.10 vanilla.

Tested on

Hawx2
MW2
BO
Heaven
3Dmark11

The new CCC is ok, nothing groundbreaking, and for me with my 1 single display adds only morphological processing which tbh makes things look like they're covered in Vaseline :P

Hmm strange. Was having no joy (see earlier post) so thought about reinstalling 10.11's. As I was doing so I thought that perhaps I should have re-started the PC after having done the 10.12's. I hadn't because I wasn't prompted to, where as iirc, usually you are. So, I cancelling the installation of 10.11 and instead re-booted and hey presto all works fine so far.

I've only played L4D2 so far, but am about to try one or two other titles. :)

any grass in strange places or flashing textures??

Hyperst - interested in your results, was a bout to get rid of my 4890 crossfire but if ati have finally sorted out the grass and flashing bits i might just keep them

Not tried them yet mate, not till I hear glowing reports as I am a bit fed up with installing every release since 10.4b only for loading times to go up and peformance to drop, I can live with the popup grass that 10.4b add to bfbc2 for now

Theres loads of problems with radeons and youtube if you search google, my 5850 wont run flash video's with anything above the normal OC limits, you go above them with afterburner and try and run a flash video and crash. Only answer is to turn hardware acceleration off... still cant run them with it on... lets see what 10.12 does...

These are the only notes I've found from AMD...

6850x2 no issues with youtube.
940/1140mhz
my old 5850 had issues in the early flash version but not lately.

I get that on my 5850 and it's really annoying. If I'm gaming I manually raise the clock speed beforehand but often forget to manually lower it again afterwards. I then go to watch a video or go on a website with flash advertising and BOOM... BSOD - or if I'm very lucky VPU recover does its job and I can still use the computer. Does anybody know whether this is still the case on 10.12?

Holly Molly!

Look at the *supposed* improvments with the 10.12 drivers over the 10.11 drivers in Far Cry 2. Now Far Cry 2 isnt a game Im interested in, but the improvments are pretty astonishing!

http://www.tweaktown.com/articles/3732/amd_catalyst_10_12_windows_7_driver_analysis/index6.html

I hope however, that AMD do not forget about the 5000 series cards, altogether and start soley focusing on the 6000 series.... the 6000 series being a new architecture, make me thatink unfourtunatly that this will be the case!

If this is the case, then to me it looks like its the biggest performance drivers comapared to a previous month, I'v ever seen, from ATI.

but the improvements there are only on the 5870, as the 68** dont get any improvement from launch driver to 10.12 then i dont think 10.12 will help the 69** much :(

interesting all the benefits on the 5870 :) !! makes that card look more and more tempting as its EOL

my 10.12s won't even install on my 4890 currently - just get stuck on "detecting graphics card" ! :(

Yea, but they cant show you ever single card in the series can they?

Its indicative, so if its present on the 5870, then your safe in assuming* it's is also there for other cards in the series.

I do agree its a bit confusing at the moment for 6000 series owners. 10.11 wasnt for them, and now the 10.12 drivers seem to be focused on deleivering performance to the 5000 series....

Maybe once all the cards in the series are launched the 11.1 drivers will be for the 6000 series.

Aditionally looking here, you can see that the 6850 and the 6870 do benefit from the 10.12 driver.
