GT5 - how you rate it?

I took the premium C4 WRC 08 car to London, smashed every wall and there was no damage either cosmetic or mechanical, maybe its a hidden option somewhere :D

Maybe it's only certain cars that have damage? maybe only on a certain track at a certain time of day? but yes we all know the game has damage :D

Who knows.....

All I know is that I've witnessed the bumps and dents on a number of occasions.

It is unlocked from the start.

this, its unlocked from the start (sony confirmed this weeks ago) although id imagine it all depends on the car you drive hence why some people might not of experienced yet.

there is no such thing as unlocking it with higher levels. - its a myth created by fanboys.

Dont know if i rated it before, but now il give it 3 stars, as the grinding to get good cars to race is slowly getting boring, and i can only see it getting worse.

2/5

Doesn't feel different enough to the fourth, it feels somewhat bodged and I'm fed up of going round and round and round a track, with no one keeping up, and round and round and round.... etc.

**** it, read a book instead.

Don't waste your time.

;)

I've seen damage to my premiun cars. Its only been scratches and a few bent panels, but it's there.

I think it's only the race cars that have doors and bumpers falling off though.

I think the fact that this thread even exists is down to the game not living up to the hype it generated.

It has added some great features to the genre(weather/Night racing) and the competition really need to add these to keep up. But on the other hand the PD are falling way behind in other areas.

No actually, that's generally using cars around the same kind of performance level as the rest of the field. The AI is just slow.

And to my other point, has anyone got "proper" damage yet and when did you get it?

not sure if it has been answered but it is there in mp.....standard cars get bent panels(and lights :p), premium get a bit more....we havent went around smashing them up to see how far it goes but we have seen bumpers hanging off by a few small collisions.

btw there is also optional mehcanical damage.

Better than Forza 3 in some things worse in others, probably about the 4.5/5. It drives better than any other console racer, has a better range of cars than any other console racer, but it has some strange design ideas. Damage perhaps should have been "last gen" texture swaps like Forza, that seems to work rather than procedual that has mixed results. The AI gives a good race a higher levels and if it was as perfect as some people want it to be i doubt many of us would ever win a race lol. Those who race a 900BHP monster against 250BHP cars and complain about AI, game being easy etc then perhaps they shouldnt bring a rocket launcher to a pistol fight. All in prob didnt live up to the hype that gamers/computer mags generated, PD didnt hype the game up we did so only have ourselves to blame if it didt reach the perfection we hoped for. Think this will end up being a different experience in some ways come the next few months. Oh and BTW what else do you do in a driving game but drive round and round and get new cars?

Slightly ironic then that it was delayed because, and I quote...

creator Kazunori Yamauchi and the team at Polyphony Digital want to make certain they are creating the perfect racing experience, and we are confident that this ambitious game will exceed expectations when it launches.

I was a little disappointed in the beginning, then it sort of clicked when i got some good cars, racing around tracks i remember, it felt like the old GT's.
Now i'm on lvl 24a/23b, about 80% complete and it's become a grind and all for very little reward.

The good bits in the game are very good but there are lots of bad points. Lack of content being a big one.

It feels like i'm playing a Beta for a game that's due out next year. They've pretty much nailed the physics and the GFX (for the most part) but the 'game' it's self doesn't feel finished, as if Sony said "Just wrap it up as it is and get it out for Xmas".

The biggest disappointment for me, is that it could easily be a great game. Perhaps, (and i hope) in the coming months it'l turn out to be.

I'm Level 21 and up to now I've found the game pretty average, honestly. Made worse by the fact that for me it's getting tedious now, I can't be bothered with B-Spec events, why the Hell do I want to sit and watch my Playstation race a car around a track? Five laps around the Tokyo track? No thanks, that's boring. No really great rewards for me personally, everyone else seems to be getting good rewards but I just seem to get worthless crap that I could've done with before I started a championship/race and spent 100,000CR upgrading my car to be within a chance of winning.

A lot of it seems bodged/rushed, this annoys me. "No, don't worry, we'll fix that in a patch!" - No, fix it before the game's released and stop wasting my time, I'm fed up of this stupid nature of relying on patching, release a game which is 'finished' to a good standard for once - this isn't just Gran Turismo 5 but a lot of new games, more of a generalised comment.

Standard/Premium cars. Why? One of the worst decisions ever. Oh and too many different versions of the same model of car. I don't care if it's mainly a Japanese orientated game as I keep reading and that they for some reason need 10 different versions of the Nissan Skyline. It just seems like laziness.

Ok, seems like a harsh post about it so far so I'll list what I like. The Premium cars look great, the physics are good, online seems fine to me so far, Photomode is nice.

No, I'm not a Xbox/Forza fan, I'm mainly PC person and I was looking forward to finally getting to use my PS3 for some long gaming hours but alas, I've been let down again. Back to the PC after four days for me.
