Guys,

My boss has asked the team to think about ways to 'sell' our Cognos data warehouse system on the internal Intranet. We have to think of two and I'm not the most creative of people so thought I'd see if you guys had any ideas I can leach? :)

Obvious ideas that I cannot put forward are: Cognos specific page, which could have FAQ’s, Project summary, upcoming projects etc. Other Team Members have suggested embedding video 'how to' guides which is a good idea but not one I can now use myself. (I was hoping to ignore his request but for some reason he is pushing for this and now its last minute).

Thanks.

What?

I was going to say that you should put out a newsletter with the headline, "Company considers disciplining those who ignore new system" but PhillyDee beat me to it :D

Why are you advertising it to your own company employees, surely you just tell them to use it?

This, let managers know that everyone needs to use the system, monitor the usage and hold managers responsible for their staff who don't use it.

Edit: Also ensure everyone has adaquate training and know why they are using the system, there must be reasons why it was brought in, get these across in training.

Just to increase the exposure of the system, hopefully get existing users to use it more where relevant and opening the eyes of non-users to the benefits. Also to keep employees up to date with latest project developments and data currently available for reporting. There is also an initiative under way to migrate some of the un-supported MS Access solutions (that are popular in that they have worked for a long time) to Cognos.

I also think they want this to increase activity on the new Intranet system.
