Sky BB...should it be faster?

Based on these stats from the router?

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 7815 kbps 1098 kbps
Line Attenuation 38.5 db 20.9 db
Noise Margin 7.0 db 8.1 db

I have just recently gone through the 10 day "dont turn off" period, I was expecting faster.

BE said I should be at 17MB.

I have three telephone sockets and all 3 show identical values, infact the most extended one had a higher connection speed!

17mg on a 38.5db attenuated line is impossible.

what mode are you on? Is the sky LLU if so try forcing adsl2+ but i doubt you will see any benefit.

edit: try find your the master socket in your house (one with the BT logo etc) and plug they filter in the test socket and see what the stats are from there.

Dumbass question...how do i check the mode on a sky router? with firmware 2.8?

I am using Exchange: ********** (1341m away) is the attenuation normal for that distance?

I have dgteam firmware installed on my netgear dg834gt modem/router.

I adjust the SNR value . By lowering this I can increase my line speed.

is it a sky branded gt? If so you need to enable debug mode and telnet into the router.

Once in, you need to do a adslctl info --stats command to find out the mode the router is connected at.

I am unsure if the router can use dmt tool as its locked to sky firmware at the moment as the above can be automated
