For what he has said he has no need to be in IT or telecoms

Then he can't even begin the judge me based on what I have been working on.

I have made no reference to how I am doing as I don't have an IT degree and this thread is about the pros and cons of a degree for IT. If you are going to hold yourself up as evidence of how university is worthless then you must be prepared for people to question you.

Then what? Honestly don't know what else your referring to? :o

We've explained countless times why you've had the reaction you have.

Doesn't the fact everyone who has offered an opinion thinks the same thing tell you something? I don't think you'll ever get it, I think as soon as you started talking about the value of your parents car in a thread about IT and degrees as if it was some sort of qualifier was the point at which it was clear you are just on another page to everyone else.

Hypercrite.

No he... really really has. We all have. Also, before you tell us an more about your boss or your job or why you only just started it or how your dad can beat up fox's dad - nobody cares. I don't mean that in a mean way but, 90% of what you've posted here has been entirely tl;dr and irrelevant to the matter at hand. Doesn't matter if the rail network is made of copper and you're only sat inside because you don't have the right colour hair or whatever it was. Wholly and completely irrelevant.

Stop. Taking. It. All. Personally.

It's evident that you're taking it personally and not looking at it objectively by your constant demands for Fox to say what he does - this isn't a fight of you versus him to see who's "best". Yet that's how you're coming across. The worth/scale of his job has nothing to do with him knowing the terminology used in the industry. Nor does anything said here invalidate what you're earning for your age; if you're fine with it and doing better than your breadrens, all good. More power to you. Just don't take it all as an insult because it's not... or... it wasn't, to start with.

This is all about seemingly 'inflating' the job role to be that of a contractor/consultant. Instead of accepting that it is nothing of the sort.

Everything else is irrelevant.

It could have been a totally honest mistake. Possibly through sheer ignorance of the differences between a temporary worker and a contractor. But nobody really knows. That's why people are picking you up on it.

Its not personal. All I said was I was contracting and then it turns into this big thing because fox doesn't agree. How you can say blah blah he knows the terminolog...he's 26, and assuming he actually got a job straight away after leaving uni, I don't see how his knowledge is relevant at all.

Why on earth does Fox suggest that a contractor can only be someone who is their own boss...seems very narrow minded to me and then freely admits he hasn't got anything to do with the industry thus making his point invalid. Evidently he has never been in a contract job?

Why are you trying to make this all about me when it's actually about you as you were the one bigging up your position to support your assertation that Uni is worthless and that you are doing better than a graduate?

Fox doesn't. The industry, industries in general, do. Everyone needs to sing from the same sheet. Most of us are. If someone says they are an IT Contractor then most of us know that this entails certain things - certain things that've been gone over about 500 million times in this thread already.

Doesn't matter, because you're not deciding what terminology is used to describe what positions/roles/etc, and nor is Fox deciding them - he's explaining them.

Did I state that Uni is worthless? NO

Am I doing better than I would if I went to Uni? Who knows, no one can answer that...

Was I bigging up a position where I previously worked? No. Its not what I have to do day to day which I found hard, it was getting familiar with the tech that is on the track which you clearly don't know at all.

Your the only one who suddenly got involved just because you went to uni.

Newsflash...jobs pay less up north than they do down south.

Everything that I said I did, I did. End of.

It's not personal... But then you launch into a huge rant all about Mr Fox?

You ask if he has ever been in a contract job? Why does this matter? You don't need to be a contractor in order to determine whether someone else is. It isn't like being a Jedi Knight or something.

Some one tell what everything in the cabinet it IS let alone how it works and I will give you a internet cookie.

Then using that information to put together a design package for a project...

You do realise I was only 17 when I started there.... I am 19 and at the second company I was taking home £500 for 10 hour day, 5 days a week. 2 grand a month at my age

500 a day and only £2k a month?

Anyway, the crux of this discussion is essentially:

BHawk: I have an apple

Majority: That is a pear

BHawk: Nope its an apple

No one is beating down on you, it was just a discussion about the nomenclature you were using. :)

Nothing to do with trains, planes or automobiles, cookies crisps or the internet, industries, salaries, Fox, Siemens or university.

What the hell does that have to do with this thread?

But it looks like a trackside cabinet to me, the sort of thing you'd find in the permanent way. They contain electrical equipment related to signalling systems and suchlike.

You obviously now fancy yourself as some sort of electrical engineer so why are you working in a data entry job for a tenner an hour?

BECAUSE THAT IS ALL I COULD GET AT THIS MOMENT IN TIME...I would rather be doing something like that and still earn money then doss about at home and make do with £50 a week JSA. You have never been unemployed - have you?

Do you think I choose to be unemployed or that I don't want a perm job?
