Not wanting to buy a car that's already in the company car park

There's quite a few cars that I like but I don't want to buy anything that someone else in the building has already got.

At the last place I worked, it was a big financial services company with a 2000 space company car park and a lot of people were in the company car scheme so like-for-like never really arose or if it did, it was just the usual Merc/BMW/Audi stuff which everyone takes for granted. In any event, you never really knew what people drove because you would never bump into them on your way in/out of work.

Now, I'm at a different company in a small building with a titchy car park of 50 cars and everyone knows who drives what. As much as I like Audi estates or Ford Kugas in a black or silver for example, there's no way I want to buy one now because it reminds of my boss or the fat grumpy cow in admin etc

Anyone else had these thoughts?

Nothing to note other than a nice supra in my works car park. back at last job there was a few nice ones, a gt3 and an SRT8 Jeep were most notable.

Just comes down to the feeling you have about the car I guess. It's all well and good it being nice, working, etc. but if you don't like it, don't bother.

I personally wouldn't let it bother me. If I like the car I like the car, very little will stop me getting it, least of all working with someone who has something similar.

There's not much of interest in our office car park (bar my 200 of course ). Used to be a UK spec DC2 but that seems to have vanished now..

Sometimes there's a mean 530d in there though. I'd have that.

Other than a couple of MX5s and maybe the RX8 there's nothing in our car park that I'd ever want to own, either. Far too many Vauxhalls and Peugeots. I wish more people had motoring taste

Only three cars of note in my car park (apart from mine), my bosses R33 Gtr, someone has a GT4 ST205 and one of the directors has a Z4 Sdrive35i. Not a particularly amazing array.

Mostly Golf GTis and mondeos here, there is a Jag XFR and an RX7 (400bhp+) and a couple of Alfas that take my fancy.

Clearly the op needs to buy an obscure Jap import so as to make it unlikely that anyone else in the company will ever have the same car.

How about a Mazda AZ-1?

As for our car park, it's mostly full of Focuses and Mondeos thanks to most people having company cars. There's also a big merc that never moves which is a director's company car, however he usually drives his wife's Peugeot to save fuel.
