Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

Looks like it'll be a right good watch if you ask me; just a load of solid fun. Jack is a wonderful character and focusing on him will make it all the more entertaining. You ask anyone what they think of when they think POTC and Bloom and Knightly come way down the list.

He was easily the best thing about the first three films and I really enjoy the look / feel of these films.

Cinema trip to see this I think :)

Don't have to put much effort in with these films can just sit and enjoy them.

No Orlando Bloom, good point. :)

I think the first film as excellent, the second was jolly enjoyable, the third less so, but I look forward to this one. Johnny has been consistently brilliant throughout the trilogy, I can but hope his performance will keep the transition to quadrilogy from being too choppy. A'har!

EDIT: Also, this is awesome:

I enjoyed the first 3 films, Jack Sparrow is such a fantastic character. As has been said, ditching Bloom and Knightly could well be a good thing, though it will be odd not having them there it must be said.

The Secret of Monkey Island was based off the same book as this I think.

Good that they dropped Bloom and Knightly, their story had run it's course.

No the films were originally going to be The Monkey Island series but then the writers and producers thought it wouldn't make a great film series so they wrote the Pirates of the Carribean instead.

When I first saw the Curse of the Black Pearl I thought it was a complete rip off of Monkey Island (most of the whole story line really) and again with Dead Man's Chest (most notably 'Tia Dalma' as the 'Voodoo Lady'). But I didn't really care too much as I really enjoyed the films and thought Depp was an awesome character.

I never knew that there was an actual Monkey Island film in the works but it does make sense now that that the writer for that went on to make Pirates of the Caribbean, George Lucas is probably kicking himself.

Love the POTC series...cant wait for this one to be released as Depp is one of my fave actors. Also have the luscious Penelope Cruz in it makes it even better,...thank god they got rid of that awful british actress Knightly....nothing redeeming about her and shes flat as a pancake:p.

Was afraid this was going to be some awful cash in without the entire original cast but it doesn't look like the film will be that effected by not having Bloom and Knightly in it. Would be good if they brought them back in a couple of years times if they continue to make the films

I don't know, this could be very good considering they've ditched Orlando and Knightly, the two worst things about the previous films.

More Sparrow and more Barbosa = Win!

Depp and Knightly were the best things about the original film , 2 was ok, and end of the world was absolutely terrible

Looks entertaining

Depp is just amazing at his character

Theme tune gets me every time also - epic - Good old Zimmer :D

Saw this last night at an advanced screening (same time as the premiere I am led to believe!). Film was really good, better than the third by a long way. the 3D was used really well, although some of the action scenes were made more confusing as a result.

Fans of the series will enjoy it, but also those who havent seen any of the others wont have a problem following it, as nothing really follows on from the others.

Oh, and Penélope Cruz is hot!

Only enjoyed the first one so far.

Might go and see this, that's if I've got time whilst I'm off.

This film actually looks better than I originally gave it credit for. I still very much doubt that they will better the first one, but at least it doesn't look as bad as the two hideous sequels.

The first one was fantastic, a genuinely great film. I haven't a clue what was going on in the second and third ones though. I'll wait for the fourth on TV.

Captain Jack Sparrow (the pauper of the surf, the jester of Tortuga) is one of my favourite characters too - could have been up there with Indiana Jones. Michael Bolton likes him too ;)
