Now I have been waiting like a lot of people for the new benches etc to come out and now I am torn!!!

The Msi 480gtx are at a nice price of £249.99 and by going with the reviews are faster than both the new Amd cards! Im not bothered by the heat or the noise custom fan profile will solve that and im half deaf! haha

Had my 280Gtx for 2 years now so about time i made the jump!!

Which one??

Ive checked the reviews and noticed that but its till a tiny bit behind on a few games! i game at 1920x1200 so would be maxing out everything i play bc2 metro etc! the 480 has the extra bit of memory and raw power is the 570 worth the extra 30 quid?

What resolution monitor would you be using? Multi-monitor display setup?

Would personally go for a GTX 570 and overclock it. (if single monitor @1080 or 1200)

?

Iv looked at two reviews so far,

http://www.anandtech.com/show/4061/amds-radeon-hd-6970-radeon-hd-6950/15

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/HIS/Radeon_HD_6970/18.html

both show the 6970 to out perform the GTX 570.

(Im looking at my native res of 1900x1200)
Look at the results for Just Cause 2 and BFBC2 from the same review! The 6970 is only faster than GTX570 (and that's not even considering the GTX570 would most likely has higher minimum frame rate) in Metro2033, Crysis, and F1 2010. Everything else it loses or equal to GTX570 at 1920 res or below.

The fact that the HD6970 can beat a GTX570 in Metro2033 is impressive in its own right#1 This is because the game is Nvidia sponsored and meant to show off the capabilities of the Nvidia DX11 GPUs.

While I do agree the 6970 is impressive in Metro2033, it is however only 0.6fps faster than the GTX570 at 1680, 0.7fps faster than GTX570, and 0.7fps slower than the GTX570 at 2560. And also, the GTX570 would most likely have minimum frame rate higher than the 6970 by at least 1-2fps (despite they don't show it).

So if you take price, as well as overclock headroom into consideration (which the GTX570 does better), there's no reason for anyone that game at 1920 res or below to get the 6970 over the GTX570, unless they want Eyefinity.

Techpowerup summary 1920x1200 says 570 has 98% the performance of 6970. Canucks summary at same res says 6970 has 99% the peformance of the 570.

They are equal apart from in specific games
