Just ordered it on steam after watching a review video on gametrailers.
I didnt realise it was made by the Burnout people and that its quite similar to it.

Bloody liars. The only reason I bought it from D2D is because they said on twitter that it wasn't coming to Steam. I'm sure they had it planned all along.

Still from what I hear, EA don't support their Steam games properly, ie. NFS Undercover isn't patched to the latest version which fixes some performance issues etc.

I would hope they will update NFS HP because the 1.0 version has a show stopping bug which crashes a lot of machines.

Do you atleast like the game:)

I played it like a mad man for the first 2 weeks, then haven't touched it since. It is a very good game, there's just not a lot of depth to it. The drifting kinda feels Trackmania-esque, but that game had a fully fledged multiplayer mode with track design and where you could actually talk to people. I can't stand all this consolised crap with gamertags, one-off randomly selected tracks, and no ability to communicate. Jesus, how hard could it be to add a chat box to the MP lobby? JUst being abl to hear someone say "pwned" or "you're a beast" would have differentiate the experience from playing with the AI. But there's none of it. Just your classic streamlined console experience that you can enjoy in a 10 minute tea break then forget it ever happened.

Also, the cut scenes tht precede every race are cool the first time, then you just want to turn them the hell off. It makes chasing a tricky time (from your friends - all the SP AI times are ridic easy) a nightmare, where you have to sit thro 30 sec of loading and BS before you can take another stab at it. Games like trackmania and super meat boy are so addictive because the moment you crash/die you can instantly respawn and try again, changing the experience from frustrating to intense. I just hate games that make you sit through BS any time you want to do anything. Why have all game menu's these days got to be mini motion pictures? UIs like the old Unreal Tournament and the original HL were perfect. They were efficient and let you get into the game in the quickest possible time, and all the intro things were skippable. I just cba with these new games where some retard dev thinks that we want a "polished experience" that we can show our friends and point and say look how cool this is. The fun comes from playing the actual game, and when I'm playing NFS I'm not actually playing NFS enough to make me want to continue.

+1

Some of the cut scenes let you 'skip' them but when you press the button to skip, it says 'skipping' for ages while it continues to show it anyway!!! Criterion are notorious for not letting you skip stuff. All the level up and new car awards are tedious, you just wanna click through them but you're not allowed! :)

The basic gameplay is brilliant but the SP needs a lot more depth and the MP needs more functionality and a chat feature is a major omission.

Its very VERY arcade (eg. it does not support 'manual' gearboxes'!) . Nothing wrong with that though, as long as you know what you're buying.

Pursuit mode is basically a normal race but with the police acting like heat seeking missiles trying to smash into you.

Fun, but know what you're getting into ... expect nothing remotely more than skin-deep smashes and crashes ..

Why buy this on Steam when it's 25 quid on the high street?
This & they give you free extra cars on the retail version which they sell to console gamers as DLC ha ha!!!

Those unskippable cut scenes annoy the hell out of me too, oh and the fact you can't skip the loading sequence for absolutely ages also bugs me. The advery for NFS World was ok the first one or two times but do they really need to have it displayed every time? This game is not a keeper. It's fun for a while but just too annoying for long term appeal.

I have to wonder if these unskippables are acceptable to the console users, are they so different from PC users?

NFS World ad only diplays once for me then never again. Those unskippable sequences are when its loading/compressing level data in the background so you can skip them but still need to wait a few secs whilst the game engine prepares the level. Not sure why it bothers people considering how quickly this game loads anyway & has no ingame loading after the initial load either

I am only talking about the legally bought version here & being logged into Autolog so it saves properly........ perhaps it works differently when people are too tight to buy the game  & want it for free.............

..well i think the game is fantastic. The graphics are beautiful and the gameplay and presentation is great. It's definitely a next-gen PC racing game.

I don't care that i paid £29.99 on STEAM. I'd rather shop inside my warm cosy house than trudge to the High Street in the freezing cold.

...did i mention how good the graphics are in this game? :D
