Where to go for a pint in Manchester...

Northern quarter, start about 7 and slowly work your way round, easiest night out ever and all the bars are always full and friendly, depending on whether you want "trendy" or "faux-dive" depends on where you choose. Personally I like a bit of both,

Few places to try out:

Centro
Cord
The Northern
The Castle (a must tbh now they've done it up, especially if you like proper pubs but without the usual drunk locals)
Blackdog Ballroom (good place to start, gets busy later on and a bit pricey)
Simple
The Bay Horse (better downstairs, they have a pool table down there)
Trof (assuming you don't mind a squeeze, head up to the second floor if you do brave it, nice enough bar though)

And if you want to do a bit of dancing to rubbish 90s britpop then TV21 is a good place to end (though it'll make you feel old :p)

main thing to check before you head out is whether anywhere has live music on, as then you'll have to pay to get in. Most places in the NQ do live music some of the time, best place to have a look is probably ents24.com.

Also, you may find that you struggle to get in to some places if there are lots of you. Above about 4 or 5 blokes only I often find staggering the group is the best way to go, if its a more mixed sex group then you shouldn't have any real problems.

Lemme know if you have any specific questions, as the NQ is my normal weekend haunt :)

EDIT: I just noticed you said 30, scratch most of the places i have just said then. TBH, you're going to struggle anywhere with that many :( Think you might need to restrict yourself to the central stuff, try starting at the gardens and go to Kro. It's not exactly great, but its big. Even then you're going to struggle getting them to let you walk in with 30 ppl.

Was in Rain Bar last saturday night before Arcade Fire, seemed a nice place, quite full of normal folk and no pounding music you have to shout over.

Rain bar is nice, but will be absolutely hammered on friday evening, not a chance of getting 30 inside, and doesn't look like it's going to be the weather for having 30 outside.

Your group wont get in anywhere in the Northern Quarter, the places are to small and very strict on groups, i've had trouble with just me and a mate thats two lads and they say "no groups of lads"

If your looking for a club, I love 5th Avenue.

A group of 30 somethings in the biggest sticky floor student fest in Manchester? I highly doubt they'll enjoy that, I stopped going there in my early 20's the site of hammered students scaveging bits of other peoples beer grows tiresome with maturity

Moon under water

j/k that place is quite possibly the worst pub I have ever been in :p

True, true, in fact avoid Deansgate at all costs

Rain Bar wont be that busy if you go early, its not somewhere where you would want to spend all night so you would go early and head off up Oxford road but to be fair, with such a large group you really are going to struggle with anywhere, split up if you go to Tiger Tiger, you wont get in any of the decent places if theres anymore than 2/3 males together

Factory is another decent idea but again, you'll have to split up although they do seem very leniant on there

he's said theyll be out around 9
And it's busy most Fridays from 5 because of the after work crew, "mad/black friday" will be 10 times worse, same goes for most of the rest of town to be honest.

9 just men or mix, I get the impression its just men, if it is, 9 is plenty to be denied at most places
I meant time, i.e. they can't go out early because they're in a xmas do until 9. You're right there's 30ish of them, which really rules them out from anywhere you'd want to go.

been on the news this morning, GMP are expecting 200,000 people out in town tonight. Busy doesn't quite cover it.
