this motherboard i have is pretty dated. and i really want a boost in performance for my epic battle games like Empire/Napoleon total war or high-graphic games like Stalker series etc

edit: why dual and not triple channel???? whats the difference

i CONSIDERED the 6 core, but i dont know if its worth the extra hundred pounds.

another edit: im not really planning to do crossfire and i got a X-fi Gamer sound card which appears to be doing quite well for most games. i want to be rather future proof'd so a good motherboard is priority

and since im changing ram, might as well get like 6gb ram at 1333/1600 mhz speed

AMD have a dual channel memory controller, the triple channel kits are for i7 systems with their triple channel controller.

so you install ram in pairs to get the dual channel.

If you play games, like RJC said, stick with the 955BE, if you do lots of video encoding, then a 1055T hex core could be useful.

whats up with these pointless graphic cards built in if most people already have one? kinda makes it more expensive than it needs be.

my x-fi sound card is probably not in a PCI-E slot.

btw my PSU is 600, is that still good?

whats the difference between the Asus Crosshair III & the IV?
