Dell messed up

I ordered a new lappy for the Mrs from Dell. It arrived today, if fact it arrived twice.

I now have 2 shiny new XPS i5 laptops having only paid for one.

Both were addressed to me, one with the wrong house number. All the order numbers and such are different, the laptops are identical and we signed for both packages.

Now what do I do, do I phone Dell and tell them, or wait until they phone me?

What are the chances that they will charge me retrospectively for the second one, especially if I inform them I have another.

Keep an eye on your bank balance and say nothing?

That's what I've been told, but I'm unsure about the dishonesty of it all. I was wondering if it has happened to anyone else.

I don't want to call them, they pick it up and then I end up in a they charge me anyway situation without the goods, if you see my meaning. I also don't want them sequestering a load of cash from my bank account and then having to fight to get it back either.....

Tell them and they'll have to arrange pick up, if they don't within 6 months (iirc, could be wrong) of informing them I think it counts as unsolicited goods (rather than goods sent in error) and you can keep it.

notify them so they can take it back

if you decide to keep it and keep your mouth shut they can't charge you for it but can ask for it back if they eventually realise their mistake

It's happened to me. Never got charged or phoned about it.

I'd be bloody chuffed it if happened again :D

happened to my sister she never got charged either phoned them up and asked them to collect they never did ,she gave it to me and kept 1 for herself ,i believe after a certain amount of time it becomes yours anyway by law

You just kept your mouth shut and that was it?

Maybe a don could put up a poll,

Should I call them and arrange to return it.

Should I wait for them to contact me.

Seriously just keep it and wait , if they haven't charged you by say Feb time your in the clear , I got a free ps3 in a similar way...... Early Xmas present IMO

Their error, let them find the error and attempt to correct it!

Maybe :p

Obviously it would be somewhat dishonest to keep it, so if you want to be truly guilt free, then tell them. Up to you!

Yeah this is my dilemma, I don't know if I'm comfortable with just saying nothing. I may wait until after the weekend and then call them up, or send an email to the chap who dealt with my order originally.
