I took the plunge and got a 6950, I don't think I will be disappointed coming from a 8800GTS 320mb.
You will be over the moon, its hugely faster, quieter, runs cooler.

Heh, it seems like it's the end of the line for my x1950 aswel, but i'm just not sure whether to get the 6950 or the 6970. Will be gaming at 1920x1200
Finger's hovering over the 'buy' button as we speak![]()
People that are upgrading from the X1950...I hope you guys have a good enough CPU as well, otherwise you end up with the slow CPU dragging the 6950's legs.
It would be fine with the Q6600, as it is a decent Quad-core. I was more refering to people with CPU like Athlon 64X2 or the old version Core2Duo that will have CPU bottleneck on modern cards.Q6600 oc to 3.1ghz and 4gb RAM possibly upgrading that to.
I hope for the life of me thats enuf.

Too many people make the mistake of thinking that by putting a modern fast graphic into their 4-5 years old dual-core PC would be all they need to get good frame rate in demanding games, and not taking consideration toward the rest of the system.

If you are not too fussed about the extra tessellation performance, and is not gaming at above 1920 res, how about considering the MSI 5850 Twin FrozeR instead:I built my i7 rig a few months back but just haven't had the spare cash for a new graphics card....until now
. Still can't decided on 6950 or 6970 though, i'm leaning towards the 6970 just for the extra mileage i'll get out of it
