I really think websites selling this cooler should tell people which models it fits!!!

So annoyed. Bought this GPU cooler for my HIS iCooler Radeon HD 5870 and the heatsinks dont fit either the voltage regulators nor the RAM chips!

The website I got it from didnt mention that it doesnt fit any 5870 card. So angry and worst of all I cant return it now!

Most 3rd party fans are designed for stock designs.
Can you not saw the heatsinks with a hacksaw or Dremmel to make them fit?

They should, don't have to though! At least a lesson learned;)

Members market?

There should also be some 69 series interested in this cooler because I checked pcb pictures of my stock asus 5870 and the 69's I'm pretty sure they will fit!

This is by far the quietest (I hate noise and you can't hear it!) and best cooler I have ever used, left on stock CCC fan settings idles at 31 over 45 stock and peaks at 50 over 85+ stock for me. I am so glad I got this one over another Zalman.
With cooling previous Ati/Nvidia gpu's, I have used four Zalmans and now my third AC. Of the two makes used AC's win for me!

Was it only your memory that had heatsinks? Your vrms were probably only getting cooled by the iCooler fan, if so then you will only need to mod the memory heatsinks and that is very easy.

If you do sell it, have you seen this?

'I do have one reservation though and that's the cooler noise level. I have not verified this with HIS just yet, but in IDLE (desktop mode) the fan was fixed at 54% RPM, making the product a little too noisy for that environment and my taste. When we manually set it at 40% the cooling was still very sufficient yet completely silent. But overall as it is right now it's definitely not the most silent solution out there.

Update April 11, 2010 - HIS issued a new BIOS based on our recommendations. IDLE temperatures will now be roughly 40~45 Degrees C, but the IDLE noise level went down significantly to 38 DBa.The peak DBa level however remains the same at roughly 44 DBa under full GPU stress.

The flipside of the coin is that the cooler does performs really well. I mean the RV870 GPU simply requires a very decent cooler and the iCooler definitely delivers as it easily shaves off another 10 Degrees C over the reference cooler'Link

You can return it for any reason you like as long as it was an instant purchase (and not an auction like ebay) and as long as its in original packaging and everything under the Distance Selling Regulations - you have 14days to change your mind!

Will this apply if the cooler heatsink has been used and also the tape used to stick down mem/vrms sinks?

Hmm the problem is that they can't test every single custom designed graphics card out there. It's common knowledge that they support reference designs but not necessarily custom ones. Wasn't the HIS cooler good anyway?
