for a whopping 10 euro and the payment system they use lol sent me an email...

In order to validate your payment and complete your order, please
provide us with the following documents during the next two business
days:

- a copy of the credit/debit card used to authorize your order (only
the front of the card)
- a copy of a photo ID (identification card, driver`s license or
passport) of the Credit/Debit Card account holder.

All items must be legible and uploaded to our secured (SSL encrypted)
interface at:

surely this is ridiculous? i already had to go through "visa secure" on there website anyway...

who in there right mind would scan/photo there debit/credit card ? even if it is only the front

i told them to cancel the payment hold they have on my account or i will contact the anti fraud department of my bank because there is no way i am going to send them such sensitive information when i have already had to go through visa secure anyway

I've heard of having to fax/email a copy of a utility bill if you're getting delivery to an address other than the billing addy, but that's ridiculous. Haven't the got a number you can phone them up at and find out what the score is?

trying to deliver to an address your card isn't registered to by anychance. Sensible precaution for companies.

no its for virtual goods... this isnt from the actual company i tried to buy stuff from its from the payment provider they use which acording to google are totally legit , they are part of the GECAD group

http://www.gecad.com/epayment/

its EPAYMENT romania http://www.epayment.ro/

seems totally legit to me?

wiki had a section on them
GECAD Software was established in 1992 by Radu Georgescu as a Computer Aided Design (CAD) software development company. Over time, GECAD’s focus shifted from CAD software to security-related software, mainly antivirus software. Its most prominent product, Reliable Antivirus, or RAV, was first developed in 1994. In 2003, after amassing over 10 million users in 60 countries worldwide, the technology was acquired by Microsoft. In 2004, GECAD reshaped its entire business to be made up of four companies.

GECAD Software is the support company for the other four business entities and it is also responsible for consolidation of the Group. The company is not active on the market.

also from wikipedia, it appears gecad software does not trade directly...

im not buying from GECAD i was using an epayment service thats part of the GECAD group.

im positive its a legit company its just ridiculous what they ask for

Some go to silly lengths tho I've not seen anything like this :S one place I ordered from put a hold on new customers til they'd phoned you and asked you a couple of questions i.e. name of nearest school based on them doing a google maps of your billing area lol to prove who you were.

ive had people from china phone me before and they have asked me to confirm what i ordered and what my email address is ;)

beeing asked for a photo of my CC/debit card is ridiculous..

photo id lol wut? i know paypal/alertpay etc do that if you want to remove spending limits from your account but for 10 euros a compamny handling card payments can politely get lost

You have just exposed yourself for being a World of Warcraft gold buyer.

no i bought WW battlechest and WW WOTLK keys from a cdkey selling website i did it for the guild wars games aswell because its cheaper than blizard charge and cheaper then the guildwars website charges
i think you will find a lot of people do it for other games aswell
I had to do that for about £70 worth of goods from Australia a few years ago. Nothing to worry about.
im still not going to give them the pictures they want...

i only opted for credit card payment because at the time it seemed fast..

another payment processor they used wanted to withdraw a small sum from my card and i would look on my bankstatement and tell them how much it was.... means i would have to go to a cashpoint though because my online banking doesnt update very often..

i thought the other payment processor "epayment" would be faster because epayment didnt mention anything it just seemed like a regular payment on sites such as ocuk... they didnt warn of wanting ridiculous documents they arent going to get from me that might take upto 2 days even if you have them

There is a large Italian based fashion website that does this, as you are effecively ordering from overseas. I had to e-mail them a scan of my card to prove I had it which they then said they delete straight away.

However what I ordered was over £300.
That said, somebody could order something cheap and maybe have the same issue which could also be what happened to the OP.

They can't do that. You have to wait for it to expire, which takes around 7 to 10 days.

If they are the actual payment provider then they already have all your card details (apart from the security code on the back which they are not supposed to store), so by sending them a copy of your card, they are not gaining any extra information, and you can always use paint to blank out some of the card's numbers if you are worried.

its not just the card they want though i dont care how secure there site is i dont want to be taking photos of my passport and credit cards.

ill just shop elsewhere

bte they are gainingh extra information because my sort code and account number are on my card which aparently nothing can be done with acording to jeremy clarkson yet someone still set a direct debit up with a charity for him when he released the info in his newspaper column
