Hello all,

I am living in an appartment with centrally provided hot water + heating.

For the past month or so, one of the boilers was broken which they've fixed now and the heating is up and running but the water tank for the entire appartment is now broken.

There is no hope of fixing this over xmas so basically no hot water for a month.

Any ideas?

Are you a member of a gym or pool? You could use the showers there, although I do not know what the opening times will be like over the holidays.

Can you not use a friends or relative?

You could buy a giant tea urn like they have in cafes and use that I suppose? Should be able to get one for about £100?
If its big enough you could actually sit in it?

(J/K on the last bit)

I was wondering if there was some electrically operated showering system which didn't need to be plumbed in.

Should have made that clear but there was no need for sarky replies

You can get electric or gas water heaters that do so on the fly. No need for a tank. You'd need a plumber in to install it. But then again, it would be as much effort to just get the tank itself sorted.

If it's not plumbed in where do you expect the water to come from?

Fill a bucket with hot water, put in shower cubical, have a sponge wash.

Putting it in the cubicle saves you getting your bathroom floor wet.

Actually you may be able to do something similar to this, just position the kettle where the shower head would be and run water into the kettle with a hose and use an extension cord to power the kettle:
