It is good if you have Gigabit LAN on your PC. Lot faster than 10/100. £13 & free P&P on amazon. bought one last week

Im thinking of getting two. If I have two of these on my network

Do I also need to get a router (to connect to the internet) with gigabit ports because if I used a router wit 10/100 ports would it slow down the whole network

No, as the Internet won't max out the 100mbit part, so only the computers talking to each other via the switch will need/use the 1GB bit. Thats as long as you connect the switches to each other directly and not both into the router, else traffic from a computer on switch one going to to a computer on switch two will be slow.
