Royal Mail Delays?

Another day and still no parcel that i'm waiting for. I've actually contacted the store i bought it from and asked them if it's now declared lost/stolen.

I've ordered 5 more things from the net since buying the above item and all of them have been delivered. Some by RM.

Backlog or not, this is a joke.

You only gave it a week? There is a very good chance that will still arrive. The backlogs are horrendous.

Well 10 days now for something that should arrive in 2 normally. The guy wants to record christmas TV on his PVR and I can't blame him for being ****ed that it hasn't arrived.

ok randomly two of the play.com items I ordered on sat have arrived but the stuff I ordered before then is still not here!
are they not doing things in order? is the backlog just being ignored?

It's what I'm thinking. I've had plenty of stuff sent after arrive in normal time. :o

Its not done in order, basically anything that is backlogged it put to one side, if there is time or room a driver will chip away at the back log.

In our depot we have a rule that we rotate the backlog, if we went to one area today we would have to take the other tomorrow.

The weather is an absolute nightmare but I blame the councils and home owners themselves. If you want a delivery get off your **** and try clearing your road/estate, why should couriers be expected to drive on untreated roads and plough through gardens/driveways when the owners have not even bothered to clear them? We had 3 accidents last week, nobody hurt but repair bill will be into the thousands.

Everyone should help out, I live in a cul-de-sac, me and a few of the neighbours completely cleared it yesterday, have to do it again tomorrow mind :)

That just stupid. Why if there are urgent parcels? I hope royal mail will be giving compensation for not providing the service people have paid for!

I probably didnt explain that as well as I could. Basically most of the backlog comes from depots that are either closed due to the snow or cannot deliver mail to the hub. The mail that does get to the hub is obviously sorted and sent on for delivery.

As I said, in our depot anything that we do not deliver on one day goes out the next day. I have had to cage up an entire postcode and not put it on my van, ill take that out and cage up another postcode the next day and so on. Im hoping for a break in the weather in which case I will be asking my manager for permission to stay out and clear the entire run before Christmas eve. I did this last year and was still out after 11pm.

The service you paid for is being attempted, take a look outside and try to get a grasp on why things are delayed. Every single courier in the country is having the same problems.

I have taken a look outside. There is no snow from here (York) to kent (where the parcel is being sent to) and hasn't been for a week.

Well done on you for being so dedicated, it's a shame the company isn't behind you on it. :(

Im not exactly sure on your area as I live in N.Ireland but its unlikely that your parcel will go direct to Kent. It will go to a national hub 1st where it is then sorted into lorries that go to the specific area.

For example if I sent 3 parcels to say London, Swindon and Liverpool they will all go to the national hub in Coventry 1st. They are then sorted and dispatched to the delivery depot. All 3 of those destinations could have a heatwave but if Coventry is snowed in your **** out of luck.

Im not sure if things are different elsewhere but in general I find that Royal Mail are behind their staff. Situations like these cannot always be helped and our road network is just not able to cope with the snow, government needs to have a serious look at the future planning of weather events.

Oh no doubt the government needs to buy some salt in advance, they get caught off guard each year. As for the parcel being stuck in a depo, it makes sense. Still frustrating though. It's cost me money.

My postie has been out 7 days a week in York even when we had a foot of snow, if all the others did the same the backlog could be cleared in no time. :(

All I see outside is the council doing nothing to bother clearing even major roads

my ipod was posted on saturday by royal mail 1st class std, im not aware of the timeframes of the different classes. when should i expect to see my new shiny ipod ? i was hoping today but after seeing this thread, im skeptical :P it was from the bay btw.

The splitter I orderd from the jungle then sent from jersey on the 3rd of december arrived today. 17 days royal mail lolz still waiting on another parcel from the 3rd.

Just got this for some books I ordered:

I am emailing to confirm that we have received your online book order and we are preparing this to be dispatched. Due to the severe weather we are experiencing Royal mail are currently unable to access our premises for collections , we will of course get this dispatched as soon as possible.

It was expected but nice to be told.

I noticed numerous posties out yesterday (Sunday) delivering, I think the last one I saw was around 5pm. People are obviously doing their best.
