Helping a friend who's wanting a 7-seater.

We'd looked at Disco 3s but they are obviously quite expensive, so turned our attention to the Nissan Pathfinder.

Anyone have one or can shed any light on any issues to look for etc. Probably looking at 2-3 years old, 13k give or take.

Thanks.

MIL has one for towing - got to say I like it. Its not that comfortable for long periods of driving compared my golf but then its great in the snow :)

They have had some problems with the electronics, mainly alarm and also the brake discs needing replaced after about 12k miles which wasn't covered under warranty unless they sent them off to be checked which they were told would take 3 weeks.

Thirsty too but then most vehicles that size are.

Great car. Good as a disco3 90% of the time. Get the one with toys and it's very good.

Had one for about 3 years and would get another, definitely a economy disco ;)

Had only one issue with mine. Injector issue sorted under warranty. Only bad points is that it's a touch underpowered. Mine did an avg of 33mpg over the duration I had it.

I ended up getting a long wheel base Shogun when i wanted something for about the money you are spending, you had a look at them?

Thanks everyone, appreciate the comments. Will have a look at the Shogun long wheelbase. From what everyone has said though, the Pathfinder does look like a viable option. Cheers.

Just curious to why Toyota never even get a mention in threads like this on here?

Are they just too expensive or just not marketed over there for this type of thing?

Expensive with bland looks/interior would be my guess. The quality/robustness doesn't make up the gap when you consider most of these vehicles go no farther than the shops. If you want a "proper" 4x4 in the uk then most would go land rover, which i know is different in oz etc.

The Navara thats its related to has a bad reputation for clutches and throwing con rods, regards to towing the disco is a much better car to use

Several contractors I work with have had Navarra's which had big end failures around 60k miles, they've all switched to Mitsubishi L200's now.
