Best £500 throw away car....

My nomination goes for a BMW E30.

Just picked up a 320i Touring for £650 and I can't fault it so far.

We'll ask you how thats going again in a year :p

They weren't after a convertible per se, as my brother and i have both graduated and both have cars, they wanted to "downsize" is how they put it. The 93 vert isn't any smaller than the 900, so i don't get it either. It was the garage that put them off, they happened to mention £400 tax for the 2.0T aero (which is double the cost of the 900)

That seems a bit like not buying a 3 Series because an M3 is £400 to tax

There are numerous 9-3 Convertibles in the lower tax brackets!

a 9000 can be turned into quite the sleeper. I know of quite a few 400hp+ cars

That would be pretty surprising. The 300zx holds the Blown Modified Sports 184-260ci world land speed record, the 9000 is a golfcart is comparison :p

On a 500 budget this could be slightly OT but in the interests of awesome:

Various meters are attached in the cockpit. They are indispensable items in order to set by checking the condition of engine. The red lever which can be checked from a photograph is for opening a parachute.

bonnehatch7689427.jpg

In the rear hatch, since it corresponds to an about 1000ps engine output, a mass fuel tank and a mass collector tank are loaded. Stable fuel supply is performed. Around the rear hatch was secured rigidity certainly with the roll cage.

If it gets you from A to B for next to nothing safely then why not.

Because it is a heap of crap that will fall to bits, break, and probably doesn't even do the safety thing.

There are numerous £500 cars out there that are better now, at £500, than a Metro was when it was brand new.

The Metro doesn't do safe.

The Metro has never been the best anything and never will.

It was the best at having one corner of the suspension collapse.

They were **** when they were new, let alone now, a nasty horrible little car, sold in dodgy colours, no redeeming features sadly.

You've got to love how the airbag deploys but the driver's head is absoultely nowhere near it because the dashboard has twisted so much :p

Never mind the airbag, thats a Rover 100, your hard core full fat Metro never had an airbag :)

Your Mini is even worse.

According to a documentary, I will more likely be burned alive on the spot...

Though it was improved over time and later models like mine had extra safety features.
