Grab an Xbox360 - Ridiculous Price

For £50 its worth a punt, I remember I brought a second-hand PS2 for £40 years back thinking I'd got an awesome deal, and it broke 2 months later.

just saying. My 360 (brought from new) has been so bad, as has my brothers and his sons - i couldnt trust a second hand one - but for disposable gaming its worth a punt...

Had as econd hand one for over a year now with no issues. It seems you are as liely to get issues with a new bought one as you are for 2nd hand and at £50 you spend more on a decent meal out so can't really go wrong imo.

What do you get for £50?

You get your xbox not sure if it's core or arcade, how do you check? wired controller, component cable and you have to pay extra for the HDD. You also get a months free games rentals too.

OK seriously, why is my XBox flashing red?

edit: I was playing Forza 3 and the game froze in one of the online lobbies. I switched the machine off and when I turned it on it kept flashing red. I unplugged it and it seems fine again.

Should I take it back already?

Welcome to the world of xbox 360s

Im after a cheap arcade for my dad for his birthday but not keen on going second hand in all honesty.

I was going to buy a 2nd hand one but seems it is more hastle than its worth. As on here you might get lucky but more often than not its the other way round.
I picked up the latest 4gig version for just over £120 from a cheap supermarket retailer now and if you can wait it will probably be cheaper still after XMAS!!

Well, you'll probably find this out yourself when it stays flashing red and you google it to death, but if three quadrants of the power button are red then it's the red ring of death. Which means it's more than likely the GPU. Or you'll get a picture too telling you an error code (mine was E74 which is the scaling chip). All my problems were in warranty and to be fair to MS they always sorted me out in good time.
However, DIY fixing Xbox 360s can be done, I know several people who've brought X-clamp kits and fixed the red ring of death. I also know others who've fixed faulty DVD drives, and none of those fixes will cost you the price of another second hand one so I reckon you've got yourself a steal.

Enjoy it :)

Just occured to me, if it's the power button itself (the power light in the middle) that's flashing red, then check the power cables. Fixed a friends one which had that by re-seating the power cable in the brick and the one in the back of the 360

I bought a second-hand one from a chap on here, worked perfectly for me for the few months I had it, but he'd only had it since last December and barely used it so I knew it was going to be a decent one anyway. Sold it to someone else on here in the end, after I got a 250GB S cheap from work.
