What are your views?

Regional Fire Control Centres scrapped...

A lot of people (especially the FBU) don't like the idea. I'm not so sure that spending a load of money and then spending more to cancel a project is the best way of saving money. I think they should have finished it.

It was a stupid Labour idea in the first place...but that is another story.

Wow, I know the Conservatives threatened to do this if they won the election but I honestly thought the project was too far along* to make it worthwhile cancelling. :eek:

Those RCCs are great sites though, they'd be perfect as secure data centers.

How much more money do you throw at it in the hopes it will work though?

Sounds like typical Labour project to me.

Massively over-complex, over-budget and not delivering what was promised, years after the deadline.

Yes, its a horrendous waste of money. But better that, and scrap it now than pouring ever more money in the vain hope of getting something working.

Why go such large scale? Build 1 regional centre that can replace say 8 of the current centres, and if all works there, repeat 8x more until you have all 9 in place. Much less risk should the project fail.

Maybe I'm too smart to be a project manager
