Hello

I am planning to build a mid-range gaming PC for the first time with a budget of up to £600. The components I am proposing to get are as follows:

CPU: Phenom II X4 955 £109
MOBO: Asrock 890GX Extreme3 £78
Ram: Corsair XMS3 2 x 2GB DDR3 1600Mhz £43
HDD: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB £41
Case: Lancool PC-K58 DragonLord £50
PSU: Antec TruePower New 650W £70
GPU: ASUS Radeon HD 6850 DirectCu 1,024MB £143

I would like something upgradable that will last for a few years, slightly behind the curve of the latest games.

The K58 case comes with a 140mm 1000rpm intake fan and a rear 120mm 1500rpm exhaust fan near the CPU. In the ceiling of the case are two places where you can install 120mm or 140mm fans. Should I be upgrading the included fans or adding an additional fan or fans?

Is 650W enough power if in due course I add a second HD6k GPU?

Any other suggestions very welcome - I've not bought anything yet and I'm totally new to this!

Hello and welcome to the forums, I would remove the competitor names beside each line before a mod sees ;)

RJCs build above is very good, you get very good customer service with OcUK versus other retailers too

To answer your question, yes 650W is plenty for 2 6850s

This is an Intel alternative, put a different case in as the K58 is out of stock ATM

Something to note if you're set on ordering from such a wide range of places is shipping costs. It can work out much more expensive than buying from one place so any money you may save on components could be eaten up by shipping.

This. Say you will pay £5 per item shipping, that's like an extra £30 - £35 wasted.

Thanks for the advice everyone (I have duly removed competitor names and will consider the sport benefits of ocuk, although the prices above mostly included free delivery).
Does the gigabyte mobo suggested above include an integrated gpu and is there any disadvantage if it does?
Also, any comment on the cooling requirements?

Yes it does include integrated graphics. But you're getting a dedicated graphics card so there is no need really. And most cases come with at least 3 fans these days to keep your system reasonably cool. I also would recommend getting an aftermarket CPU cooler, drops temps considerably compared to the stock heatsink supplied with the CPU.
