New Audi A6

Eh? I like the look of the A5 coupe but not the 4 door A5 or A7? why would I work for Audi?

Nothing sinister meant by the comment, it sounded to me like something an Audi employee would say to justify this model.

I also quite like the A5 coupe, make of that what you want :)

Yep, you being a clever bugger has guessed it, the company I work for has a 'U' and 'I' in it's name but sadly is lacking 'A' and 'D' - but I'm hopeful that the paedo in a red outfit may deliver these this year. :)

Right...

I'm happy for you.

:s

You must have read what I wrote wrong as I said the A5 & A7 4 doors look out of proportion i.e. wrong or odd.

Not really, the comment above your post was made by myself and it said:

Isn't this a bit pointless considering there is an A5?

Hence why I thought your post was funny.

There's a severe lack of Christmas spirit in this thread. :p

Edit - oh, I see what you mean now, my bad.

The badge will sell the A1, just like 95% of the range.

Audis in general confuse me a little. They aren't innovators in technology, they are expensive, they don't have particularly amazing interiors, I'm led to believe that they are as dull as all hell to drive, but yet they still sell rather well?
You cannot say that they aren't innovators in technology when no other manufacturers apart from Aston offer the B&O sound system. It may seem gimmiky with the pop up tweeters, but the science behind the acoustic lens means you'll have to go a long way to find a better sounding sound system in a car...

Np I just didn't understand the original comment and the bit about working for Audi threw me...rest assured I don't work for them even thou I had the opportunity about a year ago :D

You could say exactly the same for the current BMW range to be honest? It has to do with brand identity doesn't it?

no i dont think so.. the bmws dont look the same, They have similar design ques that enable you to think "Thats a BMW" but as for looking the same i dont agree.

From head on they do all look very simliar, there are some differences when you really look, like the chrome inserts on the 7, but at a glance they are all cut from the same cloth. The 5 now looks like a 3 which has been photocopied at a 30% enlargement :p

it has a differnt shape at the front that bulges a bit though.

Besides i think ford have a good thing going on in terms of brand identity

There will be an Avant to follow a few months after the Saloon's release.

Right - that does it! I'm sold! I was worried that the saloon might be a bit too exciting and 'sporty' for me. Now where do I sign for a diesel Avant?

Seriously, this car is deadly dull.

Of course its dull, its VAGGGG :P

Only a gayer would call a vag "dull".

I must say that after my recent encounter of an Audi, I was quite impressed at how much effort they put into making the indicator stalk go "clunk". It had a purposeful feel, as if you were opening a canal lock gate. It's a pity they didn't divert some of that effort into the steering.

Yeah they're pretty damn dull but most people on the road buy a car to get them to work and to look good on their driveway. The rest doesn't matter. Audi win in this respect.

I was impressed that a college's new Audi dimly lights the driver's area and all the controls and switches in red (doesn't affect your night vision), and I couldn't see where the light was coming from.

Hmm yea anyway, back to cars, I'm finding myself unusually drawn to the Audi stable right now, but I wont even try and pretend it's anything other than the weather thant's doing it. I managed a lucky escape from Munich back to Birmingham, but if I had, had my car at the airport rather than my sisters I don't think I'd have actually managed to get all the way back home, I'd have struggled to get off the car park, my sisters A4 Quattro is amazing in the snow, it just ploughs through anything the roads have to offer right now, say what you want about it's on road dynamics and ride (which are fine tbh, not 3 series good but fine) but that quattro system really works ...oh and it's got heated seats and my Jag doesn't ...right now that's nice :) ...on the other hand it doesn't have a heated windscreen like I do, so I might not be able to go anywhere but at least I can sit in the car in the warm looking through my crystal clear screen at all the pretty snow! and watch the great unwashed out there with their ice-scappers and cans of de-icer :p freezing their fingers off.

Thing is though, my case got lost and has been floating somwhere in the aether between Germany and Belgium since Thursday so now I need to go to the shops to buy some stuff like toothpaste, a razer, comb etc, I think I'm actually going to have to walk ...oh the humanity! :o ..their is a Morrisons superstore about 1 mile from where I live.

Please stop posting rubbish in Motors threads just for the sole purpose of stirring or winding people up.

Seemed like DM was actually being the voice of reason in some posts? The others I thought to be a harmless tongue-in-cheek laugh? Lighten the mood with humour etc?

He can also take it as well as give it, (Will told me!)

Re the A6, I like it. No doubt it'll be dull to drive, but imo it's the best looker in the class, and brand identity is nothing exclusive to Audi. 99% of them will be 4pot smokers, but that's nothing exclusive to Audi either now that a 520d is available. Anyone rocking a 2.0TDI is hardly targetting a great drivers car, or arguably even a great all rounder anyway.

The interior is nicer than the XF, as is it's nose. I'd have the F10 in this class personally, but that's just because I'm a huge I-Drive fan. The Audi nav does look an after thought, but I'm guessing it'll retract into the dash when the car is turned off. This is important as you'll get a TV that appears from nowhere every time you get in the car. This is a; 5* awesome, and b; probably the most 'interesting' feature in the class outside of the V8s...

Exactly. The trend for 2.0 diesels is hardly unique to Audi. It's obvious the people that don't understand that some people care more about reducing their tax charge than having precise responsive steering as they sit on the M4 for two hours. Maybe there are stats illustrating that far more BMW and Mercedes drivers buy V8s than do Audi drivers?!

And what's all this about a boatyard on the dash? I thought wood on the dash was considered a classy look these days?

PS votes MrLOL for most ironic forum name.

That rather depends how it's done though, I actually think it looks nice in this instance, but wood is a tricky thing to get right in cars.
