Hey guys - any of you using this stick?

Hercules Thrustmaster T-flight Hotas X Joystick

I want a seperate throttle and stick arrangement and this one can be split. If you have one of these could you tell me your thoughts? Happy with it? Will be nice to hear from simmers :D

Thanks!

**Sorry mods for posting a pic of it** !!

Was it an entry for the 'most manly words possible in the name of a product' competition? :p

Think i looked at this a while back, should be okay if not a little light (but blu-tak is your friend there). How much is it?

Haha yea youre right blue tak is a good idea! - it does look light (specially when seperated) but tak will do the job :D It is £37.00

I did look at the Saitek but didnt wanna spend that much on a throttle-stick combo. No doubt its a great system but I cant justify the cost! Will save the money for more...er...games hee hee!

I've got the Hercules Thrustmaster T-flight Hotas X Joystick.
I've only been using it for about 3 hours but I'm really impressed with it so far. Okay, the throttle is a bit light and it's got none of the LEDs/LCDs of some of the more expensive flight sticks but for £35 you can't beat it. I handed it over to a friend who's a dedicated flight sim fanatic so that he could try it with FSX and he was surprised at how good it was.

For £25 you could get the SPEEDLINK Black Widow Flightstick with force-feedback but most flight simmers will remind you that commercial airlines don't have feedback on the joystick controls so it's less realistic. Having said that, it's a nice controller and it gets good reviews. It doesn't split into two though. The throttle and stick are on on the same unit.

Thanks for that wapcatlet :) I am gonna go for the Thrustmaster T-flight Hotas! The Speedlink you mentioned looks good as well but as you said it does not split! I actually already have a very good stick - Saitek Cyborg Evo. It has intergrated throttle lever.

But to fly you have to kinda have it right in front of you with right hand on stick and left arm akwardly placed to work throttle. Will be much nicer to have them seperate and to sit comfortably while on that rainy ILS approach hee hee.

UPDATE

Well I bought the Thrustmaster! Had about 2 weeks now and very happy with it. Solidly built and good weight. I actually didnt expect the quality to be this good. A neat feauture is that you can adjust joystick resistance using a rotary knob under the stick. You can also lock the sticks twisting feature if you dont like it using the supplied allen key.

You can seperate the throttle and stick for a more realistic feel. And this is where I hit a problem. The ONLY thing I do not like is that the wire joining the throttle and stick is too short. They need to add at least another 300mm to it I feel.

I use a Microsoft Natural keyboard and it needs to sit between the throttle and stick and it cant which results in some wierd contortions. Buuut I solved it. I use the TMaster in joined-up mode on the left and my old Saitek stick on the right. Akward looking but it works! Suprisingly FSX doesnt go mad with two sticks connected both of which can be individually configured. That means access to tons of button combos on both sticks and throttles...

Can you say HOTAS or can you say HOTAS :p

I'm really considering getting the HOTAS for FSX, it's been 10+ years since I played a flight sim using a joystick and have a decent pc to run it... i3 530, 4gb, ASUS 6850.

There is a Saitek stick the same as yours on ebay and I'm considering bidding. I believe it is also wireless which would be nice.

Is there any way to DIY the attaching wire to make it longer as I'm very handy at the old electronics? How many individual wires are there?

Apologies for thread bump but I have just received one of these, to replace a logitech extreme 3d pro.

Where do I begin? I was going to buy a saitek x52 but this beauty is amazing, I dont need anything more expensive than this. First impressions after attaching the two pieces are - my god, its huge. And an overall impression of excellent build quality for the price.

If the joystick spring wears out through use, then I will simply buy another one for £30 its a no brainer. I dont know how to program the buttons yet I've simply assigned commands from in game, but there appears to be a way of applying more than one command to each of the buttons.

The stick itself did not look as comfortable to hold from its appearance as my logitech but it is actually very comfy.

I have one complaint and that is the trigger is on the small side...it gives me a slight feeling of ill confidence when using it to shoot down a enemy plane.

9/10

Heres a pic of it sat on my desk, yes thats a fullsize keyboard behind it

Spent more time with it now, overall I'm happy with it. I don't like how the throttle "snags" at 50% I wish I could turn that off somehow to me there's no need for it, it means increasing speed isn't smooth like it should be.

I have the same keyboard...& the same stick (originally purchased for PS3) but reverted back to MS SW for FFB but for the price it's a great value stick.
