The Crosshair 3 comes with a host of fan connections on board but they are all 3/4 pin connectors. My case has all three fans fitted with 4 pin Molex. Are adaptors available or do I buy a few suitable 3 pin fan plugs and splice them in?

you should get adapters with your fans to power them with molex or 3 pin?

I think both those cables would be incorrect to convert a 4 pin Molex powered case fan to a motherboard fan header powered case fan due to the inocrrect gender Molex connector. The connector would need to connect to the female connector/male pins of the case fan power connector.

I think this one http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CB-012-AK&groupid=701&catid=48&subcat=153 would be more the suitable one to use as it has both female and male Molex connectors so the correct connector can be used.

I just removed the molex connectors off mine and soldered some spare fan header connectors in place, (had a load of the above, or similar adapters with a load of old case fans I purchased) it was cheaper and much neater.

My preference would be to tack in some new fan plugs if I had any about. I may have done but we/I had a big clear out a few months back of 'I will never use this' type stuff

Cheers for the link and I will take a look.

Have a look on the well known auction site and you should find a set of 2 each male and female black fan connectors with terminals which you could use, cheap too.

Bought two 40mm fans with cable and plug for £3.70 delivered! I can use the plugs and cable for the above then the fans can be used for a radio project I have underway. RESULT :)
