Hey all

I'm going to pick up a new card tomorrow from overclockers, as ordering is a bit (lot) hit and miss at the mo, and have pretty much decided to go for a 570series card. Almost went for a 6970 but changed my mind due to heat and noise reports.

So, from the 570's in stock at the moment, is there a preffered model to go for? I've had a look around for reviews of the specific cards, but cant find anything to sway me one way or the other :)

Thanks

Also, I'm coming from a 3870x2. As there is a wee bit of a generation gap between the 2, theres no side by side comparisons as far as reviews go. Is it a safe bet to compare the 570 cards to an ati 4870 to give me a similar idea of what to expect?

Cheers

Yeah I heard something similar. Plus they have a Ultra Charged edition which is probably just a standard card with a premium price tag.

The review I read of that one got results very similar to a 580 card

Id go evga. I have a 6970 and it is only loud when you play for over 6hrs!!! I really would recommend getting the 6970 it doesnt even get that hot.

Decisions, decisions.

Think its a defo on the 570, just dont fancy the 6970 on the hope it might get better with driver improvements. Plus the heat, and apparent noise.

Reading through 570 reviews for the asus it does seem very clockable so I might sum up the extra £20 and go for that one. You get an extra years warranty too which aint a bad thing.

Wonder what the chances are of convincing the fine staff of overclockers to throw in a free game with it? :D

Come on gibbo, you must have hunfreds of the things lying around, and it is a pretty bad hill I've got to tackle to get to you.. :D :D :D

Go on, go on, go on

Love Ben x

need some discounting on these tbh, £299 is too expensive for some of the brands when stock is so plentiful (not that anyone can deliver them mind :p).

haha, I succumbed to it yesterday! I have a feeling that the Asus will settle around £270 in a few weeks. But I wanted something to play with now, through Christmas when I have some time off!

It’s on a DPD van as we speak so I should get it today :)

I'm hoping for good clocks as well and just maybe an early batch will be better i.e. before the board makers decide to bring out super duper 'golden' samples by splitting up their batches into good/bad clockers - wishful thinking perhaps lol.

Well, I got one :)

Went for the ASUS in the end. Installed it, and, as nothing is simple these days, looks like I gotta format my comp

I took the drivers for my old ati 3870x2 off via control panel, but dont think its done a great job as I'm getting pretty much identical results with both old and new card. Is there anything I can do before having to fromat everything?

Haven't done it for well over a year to be fair so really needs doing, but meh, I wanna play

Not expecting the 31000 i've seen in reviews for 3dMark05, as I only have a q6600 running at 2.4ghz, but getting just over 15000 is rubbish :)

u could try running driver sweeper but a lot of people on here dont like that as they think it causes more harm than good, but as ur planning a format if all else fails anyway...
