Are the cards supposed to come factory sealed from new ? or are they all open box now ?

I just got my 460 and there's no factory seal, any card i bought before always had a vacume type seal.

Thanks

Process is: take out, test overclocking, if it's rubbish sell it to a customer, if it's not keep for yourself.

This is what I would do if I worked at a computer parts place anyhow. I don't imagine I'd last long before getting fired :p

Well it should be good at overclocking as its the Gigabyte Super OC version.

I ordered 2 of these which were both posted at the same time, but only 1 arrived today  I thought overclockers would have packed them both together in one box :( I'll see how the other is sealed when it arrives !

Nice cards those 460 SOC's. Don't worry about the box so long as they work fine. You should get 900-950MHz core with some voltage tweaking.

Should Graphics cards come factory sealed? What a good question.

I just received a GTX 570 and in all honesty I wanted to send the thing straight back.

Outer box had obviously been previously opened, paper CD wallet torn and CD obviously used - smudges and smears etc, Documentation - crumpled and one piece looks like it had been slashed with a stanley knife.

Card looked OK though. Runs fine in fact. So I kept it.

Does make you wonder why they are not factory sealed though.

Peace of mind and all that.

Well i got two 460's and neither came sealed, although i didn't notice anything wrong with them... At least they have a decent warranty, so that's a little peace of mind...

Still not nice though if you got a card which has been handled etc, that's what you'd expect from fleabay, but not brand new !

Not nice at all

Let's face it. Spending nearly £300 on something you really would expect the manufacturer to want to protect it from someone who may want to abuse their trust. It's wide open for abuse.

To put things into perspective a little I also bought a new Corsair power supply to run this card (Not from the same place I should add)

It came shrink wrapped in heavy duty polyethylene. Quite reassuring considering it only cost £100.

To spend 3 times that amount and to have to have any doubt at all, never mind the bleedin obvious, is just pants really

Neither of my two recently bought 470's had shrink wrap on the boxes, the anti static bags the cards came in werent security sealed either.

Far as card goes yep that would be result of DSR, my 580 was sealed, as was previous card and one before that, etc...

This is something that bugs me you buy expensive goods you would think they would push the boat out & at least put the card in a sealed tamperproof bag :D

I am not pointing the finger at any retailer it's not their fault that not what i ment.
