With them moving the apps away from the OS, spec won't matter as much as 2.2 at the end of the day CPU have not really got any better with snapdragon still at 1ghz
See, how I read it was that debug Nexus Ones would be getting the Gingerbread OTA on 11th Nov, people seem to be completely ignoring that part of the tweet which started this rumour.
Lol, that's never going to happen officially by Samsung
Personally from what I have heard and read about Samsung with there support and update procedure I would be very surprised if the galaxy S or any of there other current android mobiles got updated to gingerbread.
However I wouldn't care to much if you have got the galaxy S as the nexus S will be pretty much the same specs etc. and so will be easier and quicker to port over to the GS.
At least people can buy the this mobile (NS) from samsung now knowing that they will get the updates, support etc. and not be abandoned as soon as there next mobile is released
