My wife has an email claiming to be from the HMRC which says there is a tax refund available. Now im really cautious about stuff and instantly thought its dodgy as weve never had emails from them, only a letter in the door via snail mail.

Anyone had the same thing?

Letter only I would say, hover over the links in the email and they will no doubt come up as some dodgy URL that has no relation to the tax office.

You'll get a letter if there's a refund to be had. They don't cold call.

I know guys its silly to ask but I had to double check. The snow has frozen my brain lol

Like I said something didnt seem right, paypal splattered all over it etc. So im ignoring it and the missus will call them tomorrow, well she will try as recently they have been terrible to get hold of and no doubt it will be worse because of the snow.

Thanx :D

Was just about to say I grabbed the email and googled it, it went straight to the link you posted. But what gets me is there are people that have had a fake email only to get the real thing posted thru their door. So if thats the case how the hell are the scammers getting this info?

You should click the link and then give them your bank details and everything else they ask for. Then you just patiently wait for the money to arrive.

Or should you?
