DC Universe Online - What's happening with it?

Been playing the PS3 USA beta for a week now and as you will come to experience it will crash a hell of a lot. There is no mic support (on the usa version anyway) which can be annoying.

Over all it's a fun game to play and I have tried all the powers now. Is it worth £10 per month though? Sadly I don't think it is.

I will carry on with the beta but unless it's a lot cheaper sub or they do some sort of PS+ offer to reduce the monthly cost I don't think I will be getting this game.
 
Got to have a quick go last night after Beta downloaded and so far impressed - it looks and plays better than I thought it would. Character creation I found to be good with plenty of options that have there own sub menus and colour options although it appears you choose 3 colours from a palette that can changed in intensity and brightness with differenct types of gear to choose from. Only had a go at dual weild, there are options for bow, dual pistol, rifle, martial arts etc. Quick jump on but looking forward to getting more on it this weekend. Nice break from GT5 Toyota Minolta race car = travel sickness ;)

getting this a lot last night ,which is a shame as am enjoying the game ,runs really well ,like some one said just the menus that lag a bit but hopefully they will sort that out.
 
I got this a couple of days ago (thanks to the person who gave me their BETA code!).

Character creation was good and the intro movie is awesome!. I picked a flying character and the and the controls for flight are quite good. The amount of menus in game are a bit overwhelming and I don't really know what to do/buy etc.

Having not played an MMOPRG before I don't really know what to do next. There were 2 servers I could logon to, PvP and PvE. I picked PvP and I have a mission to do (killing some guards and escaping a ship), didn't have time to finish these but might do tonight. Can someone explain the difference between PvP and PvE? I was expecting there to be loads of people running around but it was just me against the CPU enemies.

PVP(Player Vs Player) = Means you can kill the enemy faction. So if you see a human controlled villian you will be able to attack him. This can be very fun but has a dark side of ganking. Which means you will get higher powered players picking on people for the fun of it. This can stop you from completing quests.

PVE(Player Vs Environment) = Means it is you against the CPU controlled characters. If you see a villian you can not attack them and they can not attack you.

Probably better to start off on the PVE to get the hang of the game and then move onto PVP.

In PVE they might also have an option where if you attack the other side your character is then switched to a PVP mode for X amount of minutes making him vunerable to attacks. Not seen this yet though.
 
So they've said 14th Jan 11 release date. Also price has been set as norm price game and with a $15 sub fee so around £10 per month sub. Had this on pre-order but after purchasing PSN+ sub to have a look at DC:U have been happily playing it bit like an infamous online type thing if you could imagine it.

It's good but not good enough to warrant a pricey monthly sub especially when it's not a World of Warcraft beater and thats something I used to play and happily pay monthly (stopped playing around 12months ago now) for just do not think DC:U will cut it now with the quoted sub price they should have chosen the guildwars route I think or offered freeplay to PSN+ subscribers or at least an half price offer.

I agree. Although I am enjoying this game in the beta I just don't think it has enough to last the fight.

You never know though, I bet quite a few console gamers haven't played a proper MMO yet and the experience might be quite new and refreshing.

I am hoping for some sort of discount for plus users (Might sign up to plus then :)) or some huge discount for three month/year sub.

Going to carry on playing the beta but I am not putting much hope into a long term investment.

It would be so easy for them to make this game sub free with advertising or at least reduce the cost but disappointed they haven't gone down that route.

i had a spare code due to me applying online and due to me having playstation plus i had two .


i was hoping for some form of discount having ps+ and at the disc being full retail price i wonder if you get any free months online .
Is there a way to party up so you can do missions together ?
just go to the city after i beat brainiacs ship managed to find a friend on the same server so we used skype to talk and it work well considering im on a dongle 2 hours cost me 80MB :D

Not sure if its a day one purchase might have to wait till it goes down in price and also seeing if people sign up it is the first mmo on the ps3 .

I would expect you get 1 month free with the game. Standard thing for MMO's.
 
I dont think i would get it for a monthly sub, espically not on the ps3.

Reached lvl 10 on my hero last night ( 3rd re roll ) so i went to do the Area 51 instance when i joined there was about 3 other ppl there, then soon left and i was left to battle thru the missons, got to the regulator prime beta, but hes doing about 2-300 pts of dmg per hit and regens so was unable to even damage him by myself and my repair costs was draining my $$.

The rifle isnt that good a choice seems to be ethier buggy ( constant firing even when button isnt pressed so aggroing the wrong mobs) or just pants, best combo i have seen at the moment is flight with the bow ( my villian using that ) and fire.

30 days free, it shows it on the box on all the website advertising.

The staff with super speed is good fun - it's slow at first, but once you get to about level 7 there's some fantastic combos.
