What's annoying me currently is one garage down the road offering diesel at 121.9 when all the locals are 124.9... it would be fantastic if they actually had any diesel to sell. Been dry since the snow started yet they still keep the lights on.

Doesn't matter what we buy petrol in, USA does not charge over 100% tax and duty on fuel and UK does, hence why we are ripped off

But yeah, petrol is a bit pricey to say the least, in the current climate especially.

I started driving in 2008 and people told me it was quite expensive then and it's just got more expensive ever since.

In the end though, you have to drive the thing to make it worth the purchase in the first place. So you're pretty much just paying whatever they tell you to until it becomes impossible to afford.

$3.01 a gallon here today, usually costs me about $50-55 to fill up my Jeep Liberty. But dont forget thats for 87 grade not 95 grade ( which we dont get here ).
93 grade is about $3.21 a gallon

£1.209 a litre here so with the exchange rate you can see we are being ripped off

Garage round by me is so stupid

Yesterday morning = £1.29/ltr diesel
Yesterday Afternoon = £1.30/ltr diesel
Yesterday Night = £1.29/ltr diesel
This morning = £1.30/ltr diesel

Its like they are trying to rub it on our faces

Im expecting it will be £1.31 by the time I get home.

I think is really bad, with many people suffering from a pay cut, redundancy or just no pay rise. Then add in how food, eleccy and gas has gone/going up how can the goverment think this is a good thing?

im out of work and drive a £2500 range rover V8 which gives me 15mpg, i know its my choice (5 years ago) but i cant afford to drive to interviews and wont look for jobs more than 15 miles away due to the cost and lower wages they all seem to be offering.

Ive stopped driving for fun, link my tasks together to save double journeys and dont offer towing anyone in this weather anymore.

I can see the gov needs money, but its only damaging itself in the long run as im not spending anything now but need fuel to get to the job centre.

a US Gallon is only 3.8 litres, but your point is still valid.

Is there a difference in extraction and refining over here that warrants the extra cost or does the UK government just shaft the motorist more than the US ?
