Considering a car change in March-April next year and looking to spend upto 45k

Let me add a little "inspiration" to your decision ;)

The S8 does not have a V8 at all, the S8 is fitted with a 5.2 litre V10. You'll find this V10 in the Audi R8, as well. It's heavily related to the V10 you'll find in the Gallardo.

So he was correct with his revised comment (Though not the RS4 bit).

Maybe it's wrong on Wikipedia? :D

Bone stock. Faster, Sir?:

Just with a cam and exhaust. Next target, please!

0-173mph in one gear :D

:D

Better on fuel and cheaper to service than most of (if not all) the competition too, although that's probably a minor point :p

Knowing Gibbo's love of american cars i think the next car for him is the Zo6.

He looked at one when buying the mustang, loved it but couldnt afford it. Several years on, i think its time to look again.

I would suggest a Dodge viper, but he's criticised it before for having poor handling.

Ferrari 355, but should it go wrong you'll be crying into your pillow for months.

Ferrari 360 is already on the shortlist. He's discounted the 355 as he doesnt want a car that old.

This one's not bad either:

Dyno tuned and mapped (in the USA straight from the factory by a Chevy tuning expert) to produce a rear wheel 555 bhp, 568 ft/lb torque

Although I'd probably prefer to start with a standard car.....Would have to look around the red one very carefully :)

This doesn't look half bad either and is well under budget, as an example:

None too shabby for £38k.

No actually, I just copied what he said when replying to him. Never thought to check.

So you thought you'd correct him without actually checking what the facts were? :p

Still doesnt explain why you stated the R8 doesnt have the same engine as the S8, though?

Lets not take it off topic any further. I assumed we were talking about the 4.2 V8 R8, as the 5.2 V10 is well out of the price range being mentioned here.

TTRS was mentioned in OP, what's folk's opinions of them ?

Evo only gave it 4/5 stars in their review, but have changed their mind after having one as a long termer and now rate it quite highly.

Think it went back this month with a write up in the long termers sections praising it.

Every time I see a TT-S, I think I really want one until I realised it's a 4 pot Audi with Haldex. I suspect the TT-RS is a bit similar in that regard.

Looks fab, though, but... out of its depth in this league.
