anyone with 6950 xfire ? ?

i doubt 6950 temps will be an issue. I mean even worse case scenario in XF master will hit 100, will not throttle. Issue is sound and temps. and ofc the real issue is 6970 in xf not 6950.

I can never bear anything loud in my rig. anything above 50db ~ half a metre away and go straight in the bin. 6970s must be closing in on 70db :(

Love my 6950s in Xfire and not had a problem :)

Every game I throw them at is like butter, even with AA whacked-up at 2560*1600 res

3 x 27" setup soon :D

lol this is what i plan early next year, are you going for the hanns g's by any chance?

i already got 2 6950's

I ****ing HATE Metro 2033, feels absolutely horrible to play!

And muggs, yes I am

oh sweet, you know im kinda kicking myself i didnt get 3 hanns's when they were on TWO for £234 each.

well we can swap notes i guess. when are you getting the monitors? i'll get mine once i move into my new bedroom, probs around feb.

I wonder if theres gonna be some better coolers released for these 6950 cards in the near future? I remember when the akasa neo cooler came out, dropped temps on the earlier cards dramatically and was dirt cheap and quiet too. I've got a Xfire mobo arriving very shortly and was gonna get another HIS 6950 and play with Xfire again. Its not so much the temps, I reckon the cards are designed to operate at the increased temps, its the noise when those fans ramp up, and I like a quiet pc. :)

Im thinking of getting a pairo of these just after christmas, my misses has been kind enough to get me a NZXT Phantom case for christmas so im hoping a nice 200mm fan right next to them should help to cool these bad boys!

I've got 2 of these sat next to each other on a Gigabyte P55-UD5 mobo, in a Fractal R2 case.

After playing Crysis Warhead (edit: enthusiast settings, 1920x1200, 8xAA) for at least an hour, the temperature on one of the GPUs reached a high of 89C, the other was around the low 80s mark. Fan noise was noticeable but not irritating imo, I was focusing more on the sound of the game. :)

This was using the max OC available using CCC (840/1325).

that's good to know, and actually good temps@89/80s. wish the 6970s were like your 6950s. the verdict is, if you want to crossfire 6900s on reference, go with 6950.

anyway, are there any aftermarket coolers that are actually 2 slot (not3) thus can be used in crossfire/sli for any newish gpu?? i mean, whilst i love the 3 slot coolers dropping max temp by 40+c, i'd rather a 2 slot that dropped it by 30+C.
